Default Who is The Council of The Nobles? - Getting missions from them

I just realized I'm getting missions from this council and not just the Pope. Is this council my own factions version of congress or something? I'm not sure how they assign missions and what the benefits are of listening to this Council.

Yes they are your own council
The benefits are the rewards you can get (they will tell you the reward) which generally seem to give you rewards for doing something you was going to do anyway, secondly the quicker you complete the task the quicker the next one comes along
The rewards seem to be either money or troops both of which are welcome

You can ignore the missions if you want as the downside is not that bad other than having to wait 10 turns for another one

The council of nobles imitates some sort of a Medieval forum of councilors, which every King has. It generally consists of the prolific and prominent nobles of your land, landlords, governors, regional kings and so on. I'd really wish M2TW would further develop on that part and allow you to give certain generals certain lands and have them be in the council of nobles and really expand on that, but CA haven't thought of that. Would add quite a bit of depth to the game.

is it true that completing the missions given by the Council gives your king more authority points ?

I highly doubt that, however if it were true it were indeed add some sort of depth to the game... But, as I've said, I highly doubt it.

Not really, if you get a guild, then they might send you a mission - for the Explorer's guild you get mostly "conquer this territory". For merchant's guild - seize this merchant's stocks and get trade rights with this faction. The other guilds also have missions but can't remember any examples now.

I'm not sure if this would be possible but to do this one of the rewards could be +1 authority trait for the Faction Leader. I don't know if it is possible to add. An ancillary could also be an option. Of course, there should be another workaround - a building is immediately built as a reward in the capital and the FL has to remain there for 1 turn to get an ancillary/trait for bonus authority from that building. Yay for roleplaying!

You get "conquer this territory" missions from the Council of Nobles before having any guild, and i believe you gain Explorer guild points if you complete them.

In the medevial times, kings power wasn't centralized. They had a forum if the wealthiest feudal lords who advised them to do things for their betterment. Listening to them is generally a good ideal.

Maybe. I'm no modder, so I have little knowledge of the matter, but reason tells me it should be possible. Ask in the modding section, you'll likely get an answer there.
