Trying to Bribe El Cid but ...

I started a campaign as Aragon, and from the first turn I try to bribe El Cid, in order to get him as a commander. The thing is that he always refuses and as it seems the Moors will capture his city, erasing him from map.

Has anyone managed to bribe him? is there something I must do ?
