Camels vs Horses

Historically did camels ever have a HUGE advantage over horses? I know that horses dislike the smell of camels but ingame all cavalry units with horse mounts have a -4 (defence skill value I believe) against camels and to me that's a pretty big deduction.

I don't think you should look at this from a historical/realistic perspective etc. but rather in-game balance unit wise. Horses are much faster than camels which make up for their lower defense lvl i guess

Its still hard to imagine a good quality cavalry unit recieve large wounds from weaker camel riders

dont forget the camels are able to be a gunpowder unit

Knights on Destriers took large wounds from small steppe nomads on ponies so its not that big a stretch.

Horse will frighten Camel anyway.... when they charging at IT full speed with the shouting "FOR THE KING, FOR GOD" from the knights.

When Camel seen the horde of horse are running at them, they will "WTF!?! run RUN!!! the horse comingggg"
