Something odd just happened
So, I was playing a vanilla campaign as Hungary, and I wanted some Byzantine land for income and to gain standing with Mr. Pope, so after a few turns I declared war and took a settlement of theirs. They sieged with three different armies over the next few turns, so after beating them back occasionally I created a second army to take their nearby castle so they wouldn't have a military foothold near me.
So I right-clicked to attack and it says "attack neutral faction?" or whatever. I was confused because we never declared a ceasefire. If I were to offer it, it says "very demanding" so I haven't ever asked...

2 possibilities:
1) byzantines have made an alliance with one of your ally's, that stops the fighting.
2) the settlement has been taken by someone else (maybe if its out of your sight you cant see who owns it)

Re: Something odd just happened
did you make any alliances? if you made an alliance with an ally of the Byzantines than you and the Byzantines automatically end your war and get into a ceasefire, that happens each time you ally your enemy's ally(also a good way of forcing a ceasefire if you want it, though as usual never expect it to last long with the AI).

Oh okay thanks, yeah they made an ally with my ally (HRE which was a bad idea on my part because I never trust them)
