    Default Which are your favourite factions you want to play your campaigns...vote!

    The title says it all. Tell me what you like on them as well if you want. (Skins, battle system, neighbour challenge etc.)

    Parthia for me.

    Usually i much prefer the infantry orientated armies but i have taken a real shine to this faction.

    The neighbour challenge can get pretty hot right from the off if Egypt and Selucia become allies but once i'd got over the fact that these two factions throw full stack armies at you and i'd realised that the Parthian army has units that are the perfect counter to them i was set.Playing as this faction has also forced me to change a lot of my preset ideas as far as tactics and formations go and i have have to say has made me a better player.
    I also have a new respect for units like Eastern infantry and hillmen which i had always considered weak,turns out i just wasnt using them right.

    The skins are also fantastic for this faction My favourites being the Kardakes and Huvaka.

    One thing i would like to see though is the inclusion of an Arab cavalry type light horse unit.As a horse faction they dont really have one.
    Ok you get Persian cavalry and the heavier Huvaka but neither are an option early in the game due to their cost and when the Egyptians start to deploy their 180 man unit cavalry you have no effective counter.

    Overall then i'd say that with this faction you have struck a perfect balance between unit cost,numbers and maintenance.Couple that with necessary careful money/population management and an interesting start location and you have one of the best factions in game for me.

    definitely julii. at the minute being attacked constantly from gaul with no time to build an army its my 700 v their 1500-2000
    great fun and the formations are awesome

    Rome,

    I would like to see a unified Rome so I could have a more varied campaign.... perhaps leaving the senate in rome still. I also would like to see more accurate starting positions. Have the more developed cities such as Carthage and Rome as huge cities already, and let factions produce their best units from the start, I find that having an army with principes and triarii, but no means of producing them a little annoying. Also with the reforms occuing quite fast, i find that i no sooner have the ability to train triarii then the reforms come and i cant. i think facing fully formed macedon armies from the start date more realistic and challenging.

    Neighbour challenge is good already - and with unified rome would be incredible.

    The icing on the cake may be a more complicated campaign map - perhaps playing with such variables as population levels, money and build times to bring some hard choices for the player so they must think about strategy more. If you could find a mapper to double the size of the map i would be in heaven. stop the siege fest which can occur. all the provinces and cities etc could stay exactly as is, just increase the distances between settlements.

    The battles and campaign AI are already brilliant so no changes required there

    LOL I just reread that through and it reads like i am picking the mod to pieces.... not the case i love it, but you did ask for suggestions

    whilest ur on about unified rome. wud be good with no senate so you can go where you want and do what you want

    hehe... you're not alone ok i was a little bit unfaithful with soem EB barbarian factions, but not in mods like darth's here.

    Great work Darth, i really love the game, and i have to say that there is much change in the gameplay by AI. As far as the alliances are concerned, i am playing as Seleucids, and Parthia and Egypt just broke their alliance with me, and attacked together with Armenia in 3 different fronts. THe only ally that has been loyal so far is Pontus. Is that supposed to happen? I thought allies wouldn't break alliances.

    How about that shield wall ability for greek armies??? Do you think you can implement that Darth???? I got some traitors to whoop so i gotta go fellas, but hopefully we get an answer soon. Also kardakes don't rout as much anymore, even when i flank them or attack from the back with my cav. THey are kicking my ass, killing half of my cavalry, and troops.

    @Byzantium: The skins are almost all from Kali (Thanks again!) You are right the area offers a lot of challenge. The seleucids are a powerful nation to beat. Arab cavalry exists in the area as mercenaries. You can find them if available. I hope you find interesting the new hellenic force-phalanx AI usage of Seleucid-Egypt armies.

    @viramur:Yes, Gauls will be a constant headache.(historically they were beaten in a very late era). All barbarian forces will have the ability to form massy armies and use the terrain and forests of their lands for ambushes and hides.

    @Shaggy1973: When did you have the MArius reform? I mean I have tried to balance the camapign so Rome gets it rather historically. Also the expansion of Rome is greatly reduced. All your offered options seem to be a good solution for someone to create a mini-mod for DarthMod.
    Already there is a coming project for Mundus-Magnus mini-DarthMod that will stick it in forum and you could test it. As for unified Rome...well I want to keep vanilla feel in the mod.

    @Ahlerich:I hope you have found the new lands easier for ambushes and tactical use of Germanic raw power!

    @The White Knight:Which are your greatest enemies? The hardest in the region.

    @Illyrianontus keeps the alliance with you=nice bcs was intented. The other alliances you mention were issued mid-game so they double crossed you
    Greek_cities and Macedon will deploy by default with protective formation=tighter-shield wall like formation). You can use this option as well for epigonus states by clicking the loose/tight formation button and oops they will compine and be coherent.

    All spearmen ,like Kardakes, will have a very good ability to repel cavalry when in cohesion in DarthMod

    if the romans break their alliance with me and serve me with a 3rd front from the south i will take atvantage of ambushes..i will have to..lol when that happens i report back!

    i tried the bare bones huge map from repman..in my own steal here steal there mod and in the lates spqr.
    i dont like it. you have constant riot problems as further you are away from your capital..just my personal opinion..i was exited about it but after playing it i didnt like it anymore.a lso the simple fact of moving over the map when you empire groth is getting annoying..you lose troops forget some etc..lol i guess im reign by chaos

    I'm enjoying my Spanish/Iberian campaign... I love those Scutarii and Bull warrior skins ;-) The start of the campaign was difficult with Carthage throwing stacks at me but I managed to secure a truce with Gaul... atm I have whole of Iberia and I'm pumping serious cash to build up my Bull warrior armies ;-) Gauls are being squeezed by Julii, Carthage was eliminated by Scipii and the Brits are taking over in northen German lands ;-)

    The MM map isnt all that good IMHO. It is essentially the same vanilla map with expansion into the east. Much better is to just double the size of all the x,y values in the vanilla map so that distances between cities is increased. Certain hotbeds of conflict like sicily could do with a couple more provinces, and this is achievable with bigger dimensions.

    yes but you can never change things without thinking about consequences. simple way around problems like this is to change the buildings system, think law and unrest bonuses etc and you can easily compensate for the extra distances. flip side of things like this are you dont have to garrison home provinces as much cos of the extra stability from your buildings. it is a fine balance tho i agree, and tricky

    thats right you can compensate it with law mainly. but i still need a compass to play it without getting lost ;P

    can we put sig1 animations in this mod cause i really want to do that for the greeks. They could profit a little more since greek phalanxes were quicker in manourability than macedonian phalanx. Darth my man, your doing great work here, do you think we can implement new animations for greek phalanx, cause i really want to see some of that shield walls and pushing tactics used by the greeks. ...Man I am a dreamer...

    Which includes Sig animations lastest version and lt. great new forts plus velite fix

    P.S voted rome, i just like conquring europe and the map with the romans (romans any ways been my favorite)

    Thank you wipeout for the private message and the quick reply. Can't wait for it. I think i just wet myself out of joy. I started playing with the seleucids, but i am waiting for the new animations to try the Greeks. Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh baby, we gonna kick some ass tomorrow, lool
