I've been playing Stainless Steel for a while, but recent changes in 6.4 have made it harder for me to get the headquarters of certain guilds. Between lower population growth and more difficult requirements, I've struggled in order to obtain some guilds I was able to easily obtain in previous releases (like the Mason's Guild).
This got me thinking on how to make it easier to get guilds in cities of choice. One idea I have considered is "guild patronage." Historically, guilds typically settled in cities where they obtained special rights and privileges from the prince. Why not replicate this in Stainless Steel?
The "guild patronage" system could work like the regional government system in Europa Barbarorum. The player could construct a special building that would represent patronage for a particular guild (Merchant, Theologian, etc.). This building might provide a detrimental effect to the city (to represent the privileges granted to the particular guild), but also give the city respective guild points that would help it obtain higher level guilds. This would make it easier to obtain particular guilds in regions of choice as opposed to the current system (constructing buildings and units, which requires considerable management and often destruction and rebuilding of certain buildings).
On a separate note, would it be possible to add Lübeck to the game? The city was the center of the Hanseatic League and arguably the most important city in Northern Europe at that time. What's more, a region could easily be constructed for it, as Mecklenburg is included with the Pomerania region in Stainless Steel (giving Poland control of Mecklenburg in the Late Era Campaign). Just remove Mecklenburg from Pomerania and add it to the Wagrian Peninsula in Saxony and you have a region for Lübeck. If a different region must be removed first, there are excess regions which can be replaced (like Luxor in Egypt).
