unable to start campaiagn of Parthia

Hi,

Everytime i try to start a Parthian campaign i get a ctd during loading. What can be the problem?

I first had Europe Barbaro (or something) mod installed. I have removed that mod. It seemed that everything was doing it. I had a normal 1.2 version, so i decided to install rtr gold 6 without reinstalling the game. Perhaps that is part of the problem. I can start a Rome or Carthage campaign, but not a Parthian or Bactrian. What can be wrong?

You need a 'clean' RTW 1.2 install before installing RTR as EB is heavily modified. Simply uninstalling EB wont work.

So i must uninstall everything. I must download the 1.2 patch rtr gold 6 again?

Unfortunately yes. However if you have ample hard disc space, I suggest you do this.

1. Uninstall RTW.

2. Delete Activision folder

3. Use registry cleaner (many freewrae out there - just google)

4. Defrag you hard drive (optional, but better)

5. Install RTW

6. Install patch 1.2 :
This is the tricky part. If the message says "patch 1.2 already install" when
try to install it that means step no 3 didn't work out. Another option is to
use not the .exe 1.2 patch but the 1.2 zip patch.

7. After successful patching , make copies of the Rome - Total War folder
inside the Activision folder. Make many copies as you want.

8. Rename the copies to whatever you want, I have mine :
a- Europa Barbarorum
b- Rome - Total Realism
c- Imperator - Total War (my mod)
d- Rome - Total War 1.2 (spare copy)

8. If you have BI, follow this step:
a- install BI to the original Rome - Total War folder (default)
b- make copies like above for BI mods.

9. To play, open each folder where you install the mods. Find the RTW.exe ,
right click on the icon , click send to desktop. Now go to desktop , find the
shortcut (I thinkit name rt.exe shortcut or something) right click on it,
select property. Here you can change the icon, rename it etc. Play the
game/mod from this shortcut.

With the copies, i could switch between mods?
Can you install several mods? If so i'm going to do that to.
Because it's very easy when you can choose between mods without reinstalling the entire game.

Btw; What is your mod about? (imperator)

You removed EB or reinstalled RTW? I would advise to reinstall RTW and then install RTR Gold. RTR Gold is bug free.
