My friend at work said it'd be faster than anything he's ever had, but I know my friends desktop is a 700$ acer rofl.

new thats most likely at least $2000 so something smells fishy to me. $900 is a steal, cant see much wrong with the parts...

when its 2 good to be true it most often isnt. but u never know..

24 gb of ram!? I thought any more than 8 was a waste...

But yeah, gtx 580 in sli alone would cost $900 I imagine, so something is up there. Still, if that's there for $900 then it's a massive bargain if it is indeed all correct.

If you can build one yourself, do it. Much cheaper and you can handpick your components. If not, try retailers like Best Buy, HP or Alienware.

As some of the others have said, I would be exceptionally wary about this. This PC build is very good but because of the price it has been advertised at there is almost definitely something at least a little fishy about it all. In fact, just the CPU alone is almost worth the price that they are quoting for the entire PC.

A custom rig with the components listed could not be priced that low unless it is the beginning price for an auction. You better double check the listing you found or as others have indicated something is wrong.

I looked at "magic-micro" on EBay, and they have a unit pre-configured exactly as you describe with a "buy it now" price of $4,965. I did not check through all 6 pages of the PC's they have for sale on EBay, but they appear to be a reputable PC custom builder with 15,000 transactions and a 99.9% positive feedback rating. If they happen to have this same rig in used condition with a beginning auction price of $900, you could bid several times the asking pirce and still get a bargain.

    Otherwise something ain't right.

since you cannot get a guarantee of it working properly i would stay away. the new sandy bridge processors are faster than this processor, if you get the right model, like the 2500k or 2600k and oc it. for the same price you can get a new computer that is faster and knowing you have a warranty is peace of mind.

You dont need to spend more than $900 on a good gaming computer. $2000 is too much unless your rolling on cash. Since Computer technology changes so quickly dont waste everything you have on something that will go extinct in a couple years.

    $900 is a good investment.

With that said you can find something cheaper or a bit more on Dell.

Yep im also calling bullcrap on the legitamacy of the ebay posting, thats a $1000 processor and a $400 motherboard, if it's genuinly $900 you would buy it and sell off the unit immediatly for far more money.

Started watching it go up last night. It's at 4900 for those of you wondering. Dang I watched it go up since July 5th but it's gone up quite a bit.

Decided to let me go up an extra 300$ on the new gaming computer so now I can spend a little over 1300.

What do you guys think of this setup:

    Phenom II X4 955 $130,
    mid range AM3 mobo $100,
    4gigs ddr3 1333mhz ram $40,
    gtx 460 1GB $150,
    Antec 550w psu $50,
    500gig hdd $30,
    dvd burner $20,
    budget mid tower case $30,
    Windows 7 x64 $100

    Total: $650

I have room for some improvment and I have all the price listings from tigerdirect.com. This alone can play shogun 2 maxed I believe. Lemme know if I should waste all my extra money on a better towercase or Monitor.

If that can play Shogun 2 maxed for $650 (I am assuming you are buying in the US, and you are talking about USD...so I'd need to find the same parts from a Canadian dealer...a GTX460 in Canada is like 200 bucks still! ) I am pumped. I am kind of in the same boat as you...

If you get it, can you let me know how it runs?

    dont both with AMD cpu

intel i5 2400 if you dont plan to overclock
Intel i5 2500k if you do plan to overclock

    P67 or Z68 motherboard
    4gigs DDR3 1600mhz 1.5v

get a decent case a bit stronger psu these 2 parts if you get GOOD quality parts will last more then 1 build

try and get a modular psu since it makes life alot easier

something like a Corsair 650HX Seasonic, Enermax, XFX are also good alternatives.

    gpu dosent matter much

id just suggest staying away from AMD cpus for Shogun II

Shogun II effectively only uses 2 cores a quadcore helps but

14fps on a Phenom II stock at 3.2ghz vs 26-27fps on a sandybridge 2400-2500 at stock is double the frame rate this matters in large scale battles as the cpu tends to get bogged down from animations during melee, better cpu more fluid combat.
    CPU: i7 3770K 4.6GHz / i7 4930K 4.4 GHz / i7 4770K 4.6 GHz
CPU HSF: Thermaltake Water 2.0 Pro / Review Samples / Review Samples
    MOBO: Biostar TZ77XE4 / ASRock X79 Fatal1ty Champion / MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming
    RAM: Mushkin Redlines 2x4GB 1866 MHz / 4x4GB Gskill 2133 MHz / 2x4GB Kingston 2400 MHz
    GPU: Integrated / GTX 780 / HD 5450 Passive
    PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower Grand 1050w 80+ GOLD / NZXT Hale82 650w Modular / same

Can you please be more specific with the prices of these? Also links to them would be nice .
It's just 1350$ is my final budget and I really can't go over without having to knock out other budgets ( food budget first ). I have emergency bank account but that's for real emergencies. But seriously I do need to know the prices . I am effectively confused by what you say what is a modular cpu? What does overclock mean? I am currently using a crappy toshiba and I didnt ebay it or anything just went to walmart asked for help looking for a laptop I asked him if it's good for files ( at the time I was ONLY interested in using it for work ) he said sure it is. I got it and to this day I feel ripped off

Overclocking means (I may be horribly incorrect here...) to increase the speeds of a CPU or Graphics card...example, stock 3.1 ghz (right now I am just making up the example...) overclocked to 3.4ghz would provide a performance bump in certain areas, but it could also require more cooling and maybe slightly more power: same deal with the graphics card...

Modular PSU's is where you can change the power connectors, or something like that..., to suit your needs, I am sure Crazyeyesreaper or anyone else on this forum could explain it a lot better than I...

And for future reference, if you're looking for a computer, I'd stay as far away from Wal-Mart as possible...

Thanks and, believe it or not but the toshiba I got from walmart suited all my work needs perfectly with no problem at all :/. But yes i'm not buying and electronics from there anymore.
