    Default Thick fog/Night Battles

    Hi!
I was just wondering - do fog or night battles affect AI at all? For me they are quite useless - it gets on my nerves when I cant see the battlefield so I usually load the game and wait for different weather conditions for my battle. I dont suppouse that AI has difficulties seeing the battlefield so...whats the point?

They don't affect the AI. The point is to "get on the players nerve" and provide a more varied and challenging battlefield. Night Battles does have the advantage that you often can single out enemy armies rather than having a bunch at the same time.

Oh, and if you think fog is bad, try fighting in a blizzard

I love blizzards, makes the battle a sort of dramatic scene.

I will tell you what it affects, my patience to potentially throw my PC through the window.
Shogun 2, no thanks I will stick with Kingdoms SS.

Is it that bad? Never had the weather last a whole battle. Usually it starts rough and about 1/3 through the battle starts clearing.

When fighting in rain I think all archers that wield composite bows are less effective. Either that or all archers generally. Oh, gunpowder units are also affected.

If it's foggy I'm willing to bet their accuracy is reduced. I KNOW it is reduced at night

EDIT: Basically I know squat, can someone who knows elaborate? This is a very interesting matter. Tell us about fatigue too, such as heavily armoured units tiring in deserts.

I think the answer in past discussions is that only a few arrow types are affected by weather and hardly any units have those arrows. Its not the bows that are affected. Night barely affects accuracy but it is a set amount so units with already poor accuracy suffer relatively larger decrease. I don't think weather conditions affect stamina or anything else. The terrain tile the battle takes place on affects stamina with desert, snow, etc.
