    Default Third Age's greatest battles

Hi all, this is Pyromaster496 here and I decided to make a new version of this thread about your own greatest battles in the Third Age or Fourth Age: Total War mods because the idea came to me. This thread is for you to post the greates battles that you have fought against your enemy in any total war games.

    Greatest Battles Example:

Name of battle(you name the battle)

    Your faction and enemy's faction

Your Commander and Enemy's commander (If you don't know just put N/A)

Which Age: (Third= Medieval) (Fourth: Rome)

Number of soldiers in your army and enemy's (If you don't know just guess how many)

Greatest tactics used against enemy. (you name the tactic)

Name of war you are waging with enemy (you name the war)

    Outcome of battle

Did icon appear on the map noticing your greatest battle (put Yes or No)

that is how you will make your greatest battle chart for the battle you think is the greatest

    Enjoy,
    Pyromaster496

I think this thread would work better, if it wasn't like filling in a form...
but with screenshots and a little history (but therefore is the screenshot-thread and the AARs)

Positioned all of my troops in the town square with my infantry guarding my archers and Faramir. (My six Archer Militia units and Faramir got a combined total of 2809 kills!)

    The Invasion of Mordor

Heroic Victory! I lost a mere 373 men, while killing 3208 and capturing 733.

    Battle outside the Barad-Dur

    Gondor vs. Mordor

Boromir and 2 mordor captains and 1 mordor general

    Which Age: Third

My army:2696 gondorian swords, spears, bowmen (all armored) and trebs vs 6000-ish Orcs (4000 in the main stack from the Barad-Dur, 1k in the other two)

Greatest tactics used against enemy. Divide and conquer: sent out spearmen, boromir, and a few swordsmen to counter 1st small-stack of orc raiders and trolls. prevented them from harming archers or wasting ammo or joining main mordor line. repeated vs. 2nd small stack. Reformed line to face large mordor stack; lucky treb. shot kills their general. Envelop their olog-hai (spread the unit they targeted thinly; surrounded the trolls) and let flaming rocks and loads of arrows finish the rest

Name of war you are waging with enemy the taming of Mordor

Outcome of battle Victory for gondor, approx 200 casualties. Mordor armies destroyed/too few/routed. Barad-dur taken. maybe 600 survivors

    The Battle Of Minas Tirith

Well, I finally drove back the Mordorian armies trying to siege Osgiliath, and send forth the III Legion of my Gondorian Army (A full stack containing of only elite units, no milita) to Minas Morgul to tere the remaining orcs there a new ass-hole, but before I reached the fortress, a full stack of Mordor orcs ambushed me in Ithilien. Unprepared, I had to stand against the army from Minas Morgul, and the ambushing cowards, that were reaching me, and shooting me down way too fast, for the trebuchets to get ready, nor the archers og the rest of the Legion, so I didn't stand a chance.
With almost no survivors, and a general shed to pieces, the remaining of the III Legion fled, and were never seen again. That left Minas Tirith with nothing else, than some archers, catapults and a few swordmen. The II Legion were far away in the north, at Rohan to aid them against the endless invasions. Though The I Legion was stationed at Pelargir, awaiting orders so I rushed them to East Osgiliath, and further against the ambushing army, to hold them from Minas Tirith.
A few turns after, the ambushing army retreated trough Minas Morgul, and further on into Mordor, so I took the chance, and sieged Minas Morgul. And I was reforming the III again, about half the soldiers I needed, but then, I afraidly discovered, two huge armies of the Haradrims, that pillaged the hardly defended Pelargir, and moved on to Minas Tirith. I didn't have the time to lay off the siege at Minas Morgul, so Minas Tirth was pretty helpless, besides the half-Legion stationed there.
The next turn, they attacked Minas Tirith, after not a single battle at Rammas Echor, due to all troops once stationed there, was retreated back into the fortress.
The Haradrim army, consisted of mostly archers, so I was getting my ass kiced at the walls, so I retreated back to the 2nd ring, where the trebutchets were firing at the endless hordes, massing through the gate, and then, my archers completely shot down the unprepeared Haradrims, and eventually, the first line of archers fled, and then the Gondorian plate armor, and spears and swords, smashed into the breaching haradrim tribes, and lost many men, though the men of Gondor were victorious.
Only a few units of Haradrim cavalry stood back out of the 2nd ring, and hold, not knowing anything of the great loss they just suffered inside that ring, but in the middle of the battle, a platoon of spearmen ran out of the backentrance, and was now charging with spears and shouts against the helpless cavalry, that after short resistence; was defeated, also the 2 generals; that probably did pull the last bit of courage out of the still fighting Haradrims, so they ran, ran out of Minas Tirith, out of Pelargir, and was fleeing back to the lonely deserts, though their road were cut off, by my cohort of Swan Knights of Dol Amroth (1:6 of the II Legion) and was completely vanished. Well, that was the scenario, of the Battle of Minas Tirith, hope you liked it.

    Battle of Ithilien
    Third Age, 3002 TA.

Gondor (AI) and Arnor (me) vs Mordor
Generals: Araphant the Mighty, Unknown gondorian captain vs Ji Indur dawndeath and Captain Raglush.

Gondor- ~2500 men Arnor- 2333 men
Mordor- 4900 Uruks reinforced by 4200 others.

Greatest Tactic: Pinned down the Mordor reinforcing army, and sent an small-to-medium amount of troops to relief Gondor.

    Tôl-Acharn, the reconquest of Ithilien.

Outcome: Clear victory for the Free Peoples of Middle-Earth. Around 900 casualties for Arnor ,and 1.5k for Gondor. Almost utter destruction of Mordor forces.

    The sword icon appeared

This victory will now allow Gondor and Arianor to set up a strong foothold at Ithilien, eventually leading to an siege of Minas Morgul.

    M2TW
    TATW: DaC
    OotMM (me) vs Khazad-Dum
    High-chieftain Lunbug Vs Balin
    Location: east side of moria
    My army:
    1 goblin bodyguard
    1 goblin heavy archer
    5 goblin halberds
    2 goblin heavy infantry
    4 warg riders
    2 ballistae
    3 snaga skirmisher
    2 black uruks
    Enemy:
Fullstack of dwarves with 2 catapults

My strategy: move my wargs to the right flank because there was a slight slope.
Hold the line with my halberds with my skirmishers throwing their javelins
The rest of my infantry tried to surround the enemy (they did it good but not perfect)
My wargs tried to take out the catapults first but they took too long. I needed them to do hammer strikes against the dwarves and they did so.
After 10-ish charges to the face balin had enough and died.

The rest of the dwarves began to rout (only the catapults were left)
Dwarven catapult fired one last boulder and killed my general

Result: faction of Khazad-dum dead half my army dead my best general dead.

Battle of Mount Gram (2 battles)

The Northern Dunedain conquered Shedun and Angmar was falling, Sauron called a crusade. The Elves of Imladris (me) decided to defend and help the Dunedain. After destroying armies of Isengard, Dol Guldur and Mordor two huge Eastern armies showed up right before Mount Gram. Aragorn led the Dúnedain army. The Elves were led by Glorfindel, supported by Elladan and Elrohir. Rhun had a Golden army supported with Clan Guards.

The Elven army consisted of Dunedain wardens supported by Noretirno Archers and some Quendi. There were a few Imladris Rangers besides Elladan and Elrohir. The bigger Rhunish army approached me and I toke position on a hill. After a very bloody battle defeat was imminent, the Dunedain showed up and together we defeated the Easterlings.

Problem was that there was another Easterling army. There were joined by survivors of the first battle. We were vastly outnumbered. Battle started and soon Aragorn was cut down when he was isolated from his forces. Elvish and Dunedain infantery were falling when Glorfindel and the sons of Elrond made their epic charge upon the Easterlings, slaughtering 4 Easterling generals and winning the battle, ending the invasion. Angmar would soon after that fall by Eldarion, taking revenge for his father.

    Icon appeared for second battle.
