Default Changing textures back to vanilla

    Heyho,

Venice is one of my favourite factions in Medieval II, secondly I love DLV 6.2!
But, I don't like Venice looking like a circus or clowns broken loose taking over the world with their horror appearances!!
In short: is there a way to change Venice's skins (Venetian Heavy Infantry, Pikemen, Venetian Archers) back to vanilla?

I've tried swapping files around, also from other mods, but that doesn't work (didn't expect anything more).

I also wonder why every texture pack has two versions: (as an example)
    mtw2_ln_halfplate_venice
    mtw2_ln_halfplate_venice_normal

In any other mod there's only the: mtw2_ln_halfplate_venice

Hope there's a quick fix for this!

    Regards

don´t know if i understand you correct, but did you change the modeldb or did you just put some file in a folder?
you can try to read a tutorial, http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=92488

I just picked the texture files (the ones like the example I gave before) from Stainless Steel to the DLV folder as a test..

Best bet is to read a tutorial over in the Mod Workshop, as Tartaros said.

You'd also need to change their file names so they match the entries in the battle_model_db. And every unit texture I look at, from Stainless Steel, Magyar Mod, Rusichi, etc. has both a regular texture file, and a "normal" texture file. The normal texture typically creates the highlights and accents on the unit model. It may only be named "mtw2_ln_halfplate_normal" and you might need to make sure where that is located. You'll see in the bmdb document that units have two lines for textures, one for regular, one for the "normal" mapping texture file. Hope that helps.

    TQ

Allright, I think I'll have a look at all that.

Thanks a lot Tartaros and TaronQuinn!

Thanks again because I found out about everything concerning body armor..
But, I just can't find where the helmet textures for the venetian infantry comes from, the red and metal ones... I got rid of all the red body armor already but the red helmets have another source... anybody has an idea what files or lines in the databases are used for that?

    kind regards

You will need to edit the units attachment, the locations are below the body texture input in the Battle_ModelDB.txt of the unit your after.
The attachment texture works the same way as the main body one.
