    Default Computer rebooting

My computer has been rebooting when it feels like for over a year now and we have taken it to the company we got it from 4 times with no success. After it reboots I send the error report to microsoft and it says error caused by device driver. Also ever since a reboot on trackmania nations which was caused by my 128mb Nvidia Mx4000 graphics card it's been ctd whenever I play it.

Any ideas on what to do next?

I am on fire, but an extinguisher is not required.

I'm guessing overheating, open your computer up and clean it with some compressed air.

i think its unlikely a geforce4MX is overheating, but not impossible.

It sounds like either your hardware is actualy damaged or their is some sort of driver conflict. Id suggest for now you attempt to reinstall your video drivers

I meant the CPU, a GPU overheating won't cause a reboot.

    GPU overheat = BSOD....

Its CPU overheating for sure, this happens to me on occasion when I build a computer.

GFMX = the worst vidcard ever made. You computer may be rebotting simply because the card is a manufactured virus.

Try reseating your heatsink with some AS5.

Before you reseat the heatsink, dunk the thing in a sink full of water. The dust can get really bad. But I doubt that it is over heating. Try running CPU S&M, just in case.

Download Prime95 and run the max power/heat torchure test, if it reboots while its doing that then the CPU is definitily reheating. If not, run the max ram torchure test, you ram might be bad too.

Ok I've reinstalled video drivers and I'm running a Torture test which according to the stress.txt I should run for about 6-24 hours. Any idea for the Trackmania nations problem. Yes I know my Graphics card Sucks

i bet its the psu. i had completely the same thing. at the store they tested it and guaranteed me it was working. months later it would reboot more frequently..(every 5 min in the end) i run all sorts of tests and replaced stuff,i even had a thread here about that.finally i took it to the store..they tested it and guaranteed me its working...again. i bought a new psu (this time a good one) anyways...never rebooted since

i dont know what trackmania is?!? if its a game reinstall it..might have gotten corrupted by a reboot on a bad time

It never ceases to amaze me at how many people just assume it's a heat problem when a comp reboots, it could be a lot of things, faulty CPU, dying mobo, bad RAM, etc, etc, etc. your best bet is to do it the way the pros do it, process of elimination... though I doubt you have th ebits for a spare computer laying around...

From what I remember my dad had a problem like this. I believe he said that he had set the wrong amount of power for the RAM in BIOS (he had made his own).
If not it could just be a problem with the RAM its self.

I always go through a process of elimination for computer problems, and heat is the first thing I check, because it's the most common problem, and it can happen to anybody. Computer components die slowly, but after a couple of months a computer can suck up a lot of dust, and that can easily cause overheating.

So after a family chat we are thinking of getitng a new computer. And yes we are going to really look into it. I'm no tech expert so i can barely do any of the things said although I've tried the torture test and I failed after half an hour. Would a new pc solve our problems our is it just we need one or two new parts eg. graphics card and processor. I like the look of Vantage Computers
