Modders Help Please

I've recently just got the RTR Gold mod, and I'm trying to add/change the names of some of Roman family members that I start off with and that I can get later on in the game. At first I change the name of my starting heir "Publius Laevinus" on the "descr_strat" file to "Kaen Nexcis". Then I added the character name "Kaen" in place of "Kaeso" and the surname "Nexcis" in place of "Naevius" in the file "descr_names" under the Romans Julii faction. I also changed them in the file "descr_names_lookup". Then I tried to run the game and start a new campaign as the Republic of Rome, and the game would just crash after I clicked the button to start a new campaign. So I looked for more files that would influence this and I found one in the "Text" folder called "names". So I changed them in their too, the campaign would start and I could see the map and everything and move my units around but when I ended the year the game crashed on me, and it does this every time. I can get into the campaign map but can't end the year. So if anyone could tell me what I'm doing wrong I would appreciate it.

first of all this is in the wrong forum... general modding questions go in the Mod Workshop

secondly have you also changed the names in descr_strat in the family tree at the bottom of the factions section? that could be causing a possible CTD
thirdly check the persons traits... i am not sure but i think that some mods have traits to change the persons second name therefore making a more varied family... look in export_descr_character_traits and text/export_vnvs for this
forthly if you have deleted the names from export_names etc then it might not work... try just adding your chosen name to the bottom of the roman section in each of the name text files...

Sorry about the forum mix up, I did change the relative/family names part in the "descr_strat" file. Forgot to include that in my first post, I will try your suggestions, although the character traits do work out correctly so I don't think I should have a problem there, but I will double-check the text files to make sure. Thank you for your help.

I checked all of those files and I didn't find anything, so I don't know what's wrong.

Have you looked at any of the tutorials of how to add new names?

also have you tried the show_err command line?

right click on you rome shortcut and open the properties and where it says 'destination', or whateva, add " show_err" and when the games CTD's it should tell you what the problem is... i forgot to tell you this earlier

I figured it out, It was either because it has the characters in decending order by age I believe, and he wasn't in the right order then, or it was that I had him set as my leader's son, anyway, I changed them both and once I changed it it worked out fine.
