    Default Roman Recruitment Times

I was hoping somebody could shed some light on to why some of the Roman empire' units have multiple turn Recruitment times? some of the units in question: Scoutatoi, Spartharii tou Vasileos, Scholarii, Siphonatores. i know the last three are unique units but even the normal units have 2,4 turns a recruitment. any info would be greatfully appreciated. btw, i'm using ss 6.4 with MSC 6.0 rolled back to 5.0.3 (for the sake of 1TPY and without OST). If this is the wrong place, i apologise.

Professional units often have increased recruiting time. They are better than average troops as they often get "traits" like trained or highly trained.

I've only really noticed it with the roman Empire, i usually play as England but never really noticed it for them. i guess i didn't get far enough with them. So you're saying it's normal then? Scoutatoi have 4 turns to recruit. scholarri have 7, all other Countries are the same when they start getting Professionals?

It depends on factions. I haven't played catholics that much to get to late professionals and see if their training time is increased.
It doesn't matter really. It just takes more turns to build an army, but once u have it retraining it is very easy and those troops are good in quality.

In RR/RC guide if I'm not mistaken they explain that "late professional" get increased training times. On the other hand they are most often much better units than non-professionals.

If you play as Arabs, Moors or Kwarezmians you get late professional units right from the start, which too have increased recruitment times. I'm also willing to bet Mongols have late professional units from the start.

Europeans need some time till they get said units, that's why they are called late professionals. Because they appeared later in the middle ages in Europe. But yes, I think French Lancers take 8 turns to recruit? Not sure.

Think like this, Scolari have 7 turns to recruit, ok. But you can recruit 3-4 units at once. At 1250 Constantinople is for me the biggest army unit suplier from all empire. Always someting to add to burn the muslims.
About scutatoi, maybe are 4 turns to recruit, but are 82 soldiers in a unit, very strong, and this happens in 1130-1135? For example Venice, close enemy, at that time can recruit crap militia spear? Scutatoi whoop any enemy. In fact in 1200 only you lack of mobility stop you to conquer italian peninsula and Anatolia with scutatoi hordes.
