As therussian mentioned above, War and Peace is easily first on the list, followed closely by The Brothers Karamazov and Ulysses.

The long walk nonfictional accounts always trump fiction since their not supposed to be fake, its sad and hysterical at the same time, they went thru the gobi desert with nothing but a tin can and an axe, imagine walking along holding up a tin can full of water thats gotta last for 2 weeks in the sweltering hot desert and having to make sure that the guy carrying it isnt sneaking drinks, and all of this while walking on wooden clogs.

You have a certain mentality, a "you vs them" and i know it is hard to see, but it is only your imagination which makes up enemies everywhere. I haven't professed anything but being neutral so why Do you feel the need to defend yourself from me?. Truly What are you defending? when there is nobody attacking?
