Flavius gave the last orders for his officers, and sat down. What an exhausting march, three seasons to get here, men are exhausted from the fast-paced march. Good thing we caught that raiding party, it was good fun for the soldiers. They are good soldiers, good ones at what they have been trained to, but i fear it may not be enough...
His thought swept to the intelligence report he had received:
They have 1800 veterans... and we have a half-legion, consisting of allied reserves and just a few heavy infantry.Bononia is literally full of Gauls. Mostly heavy infantry and spearmen, all veteran soldiers. Heavy infantry they have 850, spearmen 600. They have 250 cavalry, 70 of them being heavy and the rest light. Lately they have levied an additional unit of slingers, numbering up to 120 men. Perhaps they are expecting an attack.
Flavius took a parchment, and began to write. Soon he called for a messenger, and gave the letter to the messenger with orders of quick delivery.
