    Default My own Dwarf

    Hello

    I hope you can understand me, my english is not the best ...
    (if someone read this AND can help me AND speak german - perhaps i can better explain my problem at german )
    I also hope i am at the correct place in this forum, if not pls move my thread

    Some times ago i startet a try do create my own dwarf model (crossbow with axe and shield) - at the moment i try to add it into the game.
    I am an absolutly beginner at modeling, uvmapping, texturing and modding, so this is my first try to create an own unit.
    I have created 1 model file and 2 Texture files, but after some searching how i can add it into game it looks like its to hard for me because ThirdAge use another system for texturing ? it looks like ThirdAge use not only 2 texture for 1 model, it looks like all dwarf use the same ground-texture and special attachment texture ?

    What do you mean by 'same texture'?
    If you want to know the detail, you have the check the 'modeldb' file actually.

    thank you very much for your answer!


    i will try to explain what i am thinking it is the right way to change the crossbow model from TWTA with my model :
    I create a new model and add into the model the skelleton from the crossbowmen to use his animations, after this i create 2 texture files - one for figure (head, body, legs, ...) and one for attachement (axe, crossbow, shield, shoulder pads, ...), so my model is now full textured with this 2 files.
    now (so i think) i only change in the "modeldb" the file for the model and the textures with my files
    i hope this is the correct way, if not pls tell me the right way

    i cannot find in the modeldb the right files for the dwarf crossbowmen - the red marked text must be the file for the model, but why is the model here 2x ?
    and what are the files for texture from the green marked ?

    I believe the second model is for the armor upgrade. Maybe a place holder?

    hm ok ...

    i have found something after open all textures and the model file:

    48 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/yydc_lod0.mesh 6400-this is the model (with many copies of head,boots,beard,shield, ...)

    73 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/textures/en_cmail_cmail_dwarves.texture-this is the texture for figure (Head, boots, body, ...)

    80 unit_models/_Units/EN_Lmail_Hmail/textures/en_cmail_cmail_dwarves_normal.texture-this is the same texture for figure but strange colours (blue, if i use it on the model it looks like invisible

    60 unit_models/AttachmentSets/Final Danish_dwarves_diff.texture-this is the texture for attachement (weapons, shield, crossbow, ...)

    60 unit_models/AttachmentSets/Final Danish_dwarves_norm.texture 0-this is the second texture for attachement but also strange blue colour

    now is my question: the "norm" textures with the strange blue colours is used for what ?

    I have testet something:

    i simply changed the files from TA with the files from me, i renamed my files in the original names:
    My model, my textures, only the general works, i have changed nothing on it, it is original:


    My model, ThirdAge textures:


    the good thing is, the game dont crash with my model, but something is wrong....

    Sorry, but you have just exceeded by knowledge in this area.
    If you do not receive any replies in this thread, then I suggest that you post this question in the modding forum. I have always found the members who 'lurk" there to be most knowledgeable and helpful. I have provided a link for you. Hope you can get an answer soon.

    i post in this area because this is the area for Third Age, but its better i move to the modding area.
    Is there a way to move this thread in the modding area ? can i do it myself or only a moderator can to this ?

    Generally, questions that pertain to suspected bugs, installation problems or technical issues related only to this mod should be posted in this forum. Customizing the mod for your personal use should be posted in the modding forum where you can receive the wisdom of specialized gurus who deal with these issues much more frequently than the typical poster in this thread and forum.

    Only a moderator can move a thread.
