Default Windows cannot find Kingdoms exe

    Hej guys,

I downloaded CoW 1.4.4 from the torrent reddwarf gave us. Did exactly what he said in his instruction but got this error "windows cannot find kingdoms exe". I turned of my UAC, but it is not helping. I searched the forums about this problem and I found 1 topic, but it was closed already and there was no info in it. I think this is a well known problem, so I hope you guys can help me. What am I missing over here?

    All help is appreciated!

    Is Kingdoms updated to v1.05?

Are you using Steam to run Kingdoms/CoW?

Yes I have 1.05 kingdoms and I am not using steam to play kingdoms. I downloaded CoW a few months ago and that version
Was working.well. I believe it was version 1.4.1 and I installed it with no problems...

I would recommend a re-installation of Medieval II & Kingdoms, that should fix your error.

Tried that, but I still get the same error. I am trying to suspect, that the torrent is not good, because I got 2 errors when unzipping the rar-file from the torrent...

EDIT: Ok, it is working now!

To aid in the assistance of others in the future, could you explain what you did to get the mod working?

No, you made a mistake. 1) If you follow the installer it will install into Medieval - Kingdoms folder in Program Files rather than Program Files/SEGA/Medieval 2/mods. Or, if you are running as administrator, run it normally.

I downloaded the torrent of REDDWARF. CoW 1.4.4_full English version, but there is no installer in that torrent. Also the rar file is having trouble unzipping some files at 98%.

If I download CoW 1.4.4 in 5 pieces, it will take me a day or 2, because the downloadspeed of those files is really slow. I prefer torrents, but the last torrent didnt work that well. Also, I got a lot of CTD's when starting the game within 7 turns, so it is still not working well. Solved 1 problem, got another 1....

I just extracted the CoW map into MW2/mod.... and suddenly it was starting. So actually I didn't do anything special...

    @Russian Gondor/or anybody else
Where is this installer you mentioned, because I really can't find it in the torrent of reddwarf. I think this installer would solve my problem

No offense, but you will spend less time downloading a working mod than fighting with a non-working one. I spent 2 days downloading every part, and I am enjoying it CTD free

Well if thats true, I will download all 5 parts 1 by 1 I thought that the torrent was working well, but it isnt. SO, I will start downloading all parts 1 by 1. It will take me some time, but it has to be done

I had the same error report, but in my case it had nothing to do with the COW install, but was caused by my german gold version's exe being screwed up after the 1.05 patch (this is a known problem, and SEGA even made a no-cd patch for the german version available on it's site at one time).
I searched the net for half a day to find the cause, and reinstalled half a dozen times, before I remembered having the same problem last time I installed COW.

My solution then was to skip the 1.05 patch and it worked like a charm (again this time), at least seventy turns without gamebreaking CTD's.
"The only question that remained was whether the founders knew the final result of their creation, or if they themselves where the victims of a misunderstanding.
In the latter case it was the duty of any thinking human, to press himself into the front of this depraved movement, to perhaps still prevent the extreme, in the former case the founders of this peoples disease must have been true devils; for only in the brain of a monster - not of a human - could the plan for an organisation take meaningfull form, whose purpose must lead toward the end result of a collapse of human culture and thus to the desolation of the world.
In this case only battle remained as a means of final delivery, battle with any weapons that the human mind, intellect and will are able to comprehend, regardless, of whom fate would gift with it's blessing."

You were able to run CoW 1.44 without using the Kingdoms v1.05 patch?

You experienced absolutely no CTDs/ errors your during any part of the game? (No crashes during battles, etc.)

Under 'without gamebreaking CTD's' I understand not experiencing CTD's that cannot be solved by reloading the savegame, so te answer would be no, I did experience several CTD's during the seventy turn campaign in question.
But I did not follow the instructions suggesting to remove all those files and folders during that install, so what caused those CTD's is uncertain.

To answer your first question, yes 1.4.4 without the 1.05 patch and again, for at least seventy turns.

When you run the setup.exe install file, set the target installation path to your "Medieval II/mod" folder.

If I just set it to the mods folder, the setup installs all the files into the mods folder, so like data, all the descr files are all in the mods folder. I thought I had to create a new folder Call_of_warhammer separately, or just install to the path \mods\Call_of_Warhammer.

    Is that correct?

Also after I installed it and when I try to play other kingdom's games like crusades the game launches taking up only 3/4 of the screen. I did nothing else... so fresh install of Kingdoms plays fullscreen just fine, installs CoW, which if mod foldered shouldn't screw up other games, but then other kingdoms games won't play fullscreen anymore... sigh

There's an installer in the Official Downloads and mw2xboxplayer's 5 part download.
