    Default Mumakil

There are some things that could be improved:

-1- mumakil had 4 tusks, not 2: (I found this text on the lotr wiki)
"According to The Red Book, they were between 50 and 100 feet (15 and 30 meters) tall with four gigantic tusks and two lesser ones in the face."

-2- in fatw, mumakil have to big heads and to long necks (it looks like they are caricature elephants)

maybe this image shows them more correct:

The mod's units are based on Tolkien's writings and whatever references can be found in there, not PJ's interpretation or fan-made 'lore' associated with it.

Aradan I am glad that, you based your work on Tolkien's books. But can you quote these book excerpt, where is written about Mumakil?

These phrases "according to the Red Book" and even worse, "according do archaelogical findings" make me vomit.

Let's be nice to the visitor why don't we?

I'm a massive fan of Fourth Age and all the hard work you guys have put into it over the years, especially your dedication to polish, perfection and Tolkien and his original works. I just hope you remember that you are exceptional, and by definition, most people don't live up to the standard you've set yourselves.

I'm more than happy about this but I think in the long run you'll win a lot more fans by displaying the same standard of patience and understanding towards them as you have in your mod crafting.

? I don't think I was impatient or showed a lack of understanding, I simply stated that we're basing the units on the books and not the films, as an explanation for our Mumakil being the way they are...

    Sources:
The Two Towers: "The Black Gate Is Closed," p. 254-55; "Of Herbs and Stewed Rabbit," p. 269-70
The Return of the King: "The Siege of Gondor," p. 101; "The Battle of the Pelennor Fields," p. 118, 121, 124

Sorry, I should have made it clear I was referring to Thangaror's post, not yours. I was just worried that the OP would get driven off and miss out on the best and most polished RTW mod because his idea got shot down so harshly, wasn't suggesting for a moment anything else.

    With regard to these creatures:

Are there mercenary units of these?

Are they really effective for their cost or are Horsemen of the Harnen and Ivory Trade better bang for buck?
Welcome to the Great Race 2015. Either IS wins or Iran bails out Assad in the nick of time. Whoever wins Iraq and Syria and everybody else loses.

if you want that kind of mumak, you can try LOTR-TW, they're movie based.

Actually, this is incorrect. If you open a dictionary and look up the term 'fundamentalist', you won't find anything about FATW. It's an entirely different thing, however, with the term 'fussy' ...

Edit remarks: So much for Wiki. Easily available information doe not equal correct information. Trusting Wiki as the only source of information is a bad call in any case. Sorry, I'm ranting...

Anyway, we do appreciate your concern for FATW, and welcome to the forum!

I read this so called Bible, and found it to be a third rate story in which this so called 'jesus' is nothing more than a shameless lampooning of Brian, which has inspired joy and laughter in millions.

    Nope, no Mumakil mercs.

And yes, they can be quite cost-effective, if used properly. Just keep them away from flaming missiles and javelins.

they're the most cost effective units as long as there's mostly melee troops on your enemy's side, once you get the "feel" on how to use them, just see those Gondor/Armroth MAA flying arround

Mûmakil can cause terrible havoc. Best tactic is to let them charge the unit that is standing at the very rear of the enemy's line. They'll just charge through, scatter the whole formation and kill a could deal of men.

This works especially well when you're flanking the enemy and you click on the unit on the far side of the battlefield. Utter chaos!
