    Default Bloody, Muddy Generals

I have made some new textures but I notice that my general, while they start out looking neat and shiney, end-up looking like Pigpen from Peanuts a few moments after their intro speach. Is this just a "battle muck" feature that I can just turn off someplace?

no i think youll have to edit the textures...

maybe some text-editer knows, how to turn the effects so, that they take place in the battle and not already in the speach, but then you should copy your question to text editing & scripting...

but when you want no mud at all, only blood, then i can help you

    ...In unpacked Data/overlaytextures...
...I’ve only experimented with “Blood” but from my understanding the textures are built up over layers (starting level 1, then 2, then 3)...
...What i’ve done is edited the 6 alpha levels to black/saved blank for you (eliminates the light shining through) on all references to dirt (and dirt/blood incase)...
...make a backup of overlay textures and then experiment by cut/paste overwriting these textures until you are happy...
...just remember it works in incremental levels...so experiment & remove gradually...
...Hopefully, it will help...all the best...
...enclosed 7zip folder, unpack with free 7zip then cut paste overwrite into overlaytextures...

I keep blood and mud as they are and made mud blank. This way they stay clean until they get wounded...

its now also possible to change the different overlay textures for different climates, so in some climates they have other dirt than in other, and you can aalso change on which ground type (rock, grass, gravel and so on) they get dirty.

but that may not be important enough, to spend a lot of time in changing..
