    Default Warhammer fiction

    Hi!

I'm new to the Warhammer franchise(by that I mean their storyline etc. I'm not playing any actual Warhammer games or something like that) and I just wonder what this mod is based on(besides Warhammer..... duh). I mean, is it strictly based of the board games? Or perhaps there are some novels, movies, series etc. that this is based off, if so would anyone be so kind to give me some quick pointers/overview regarding these fictions?

    Thanks in advance!

This mod is more or less based on the board-game. The various novels out there aren't too influential to base anything on, but the Table-Top game is an excellent and popular hobby with very loyal fans.

Pm me and I may be able to help you more with CoW.

To be honest, I'm not all that interested in the board game, I hoped there were some decent novels/comics etc. that covers the storyline of CoW:TW because that would be really interesting to check out.

    Thanks anyways!

I meant with lore. The Warhammer Armybooks contain everything you need to know about the World of Warhammer, not just info on how to play the game

Warhammer Armybooks? Now I'm intrigued! What are these "Armybooks"? Are they accessable online?

There are plenty of novels about the warhammer world, as far as I know none of them cover the COW timeline though.
The warhammer story is an ever growing tale that is enhanced at the whim of Games Workshop, the company that owns the right to the fluff and sels the tabletop games, COW takes place during the most recent expansion of that tale.

Warhammer novels (and 40K novels for that matter) are often quite heavily influenced by the author that wrote them, you will be hard pressed to define a single alternate reality when compiling facts about the warhammer world from those novels.
Search for a list of 'Black Library' novels to get an idea of the vast amount of warhammer literature, quite a few are available in ebook format, but I know of no legal way to aquire those.

No movies or series as far as I know, tough there might be some fan made movies out there.

Armybooks are faction specific rulebooks for the tabletop game (with a reasonable amount of fluff inside) that can be found on the net if you look hard enough, though I have my doubts about the legality.
"The only question that remained was whether the founders knew the final result of their creation, or if they themselves where the victims of a misunderstanding.
In the latter case it was the duty of any thinking human, to press himself into the front of this depraved movement, to perhaps still prevent the extreme, in the former case the founders of this peoples disease must have been true devils; for only in the brain of a monster - not of a human - could the plan for an organisation take meaningfull form, whose purpose must lead toward the end result of a collapse of human culture and thus to the desolation of the world.
In this case only battle remained as a means of final delivery, battle with any weapons that the human mind, intellect and will are able to comprehend, regardless, of whom fate would gift with it's blessing."

some of the army books can be found online but buying them is dirt cheap from ebay etc. warhammer is a tabletop game useing metal figures and handbuilt terrain.

its been going since the 1980's when i first started. the various rulebooks also contain a vast amount of the history and mythology of the warhammer world.there are a huge number of individual units and factions,a good deal of which have not found their way into the mod as of yet.

a knowledge of the history, lore and legends of this world vastly improves the gaming experience and there are a lot of very talented people making submods which enhance the main mod immensly. the more you dig into and explore the warhammer world, the greater your enjoyment of this mod will be,and the more respect you'll find yourself feeling for the superb work done by all concerned so far. cheers
