Default Is CoW less scripted atm?

So, I am about to play CoW again, but is it still heavily scripted? I know about a sandbox submod, but so far I have seen, that the mod is not ready yet.

    Thx for you help!

It has most scripts of any mod, and all are masterfully made!

I agree. I like all the scripts in the mod very much. At first I got scared of the Storm of Chaos script but right now I just love it. The scripts in CoW are the very cherry on top of the sundae. Also the game is very stable right now. I had very few crashes.

The scripts make this mod what it is. I very much doubt I'd still be playing it after over 1.5 years if the campaign was just like any other, relying on the AI to make it interesting and action packed. Some people don't like scripts, but without them it can get rather boring.

What CoW needs is multiple campaign scripts and a .bat file to randomly switch between them each time you start a new campaign. Even just changing the scripted armies for each script would keep the game fresh. Something I'll look into when I'm done with the chaos part of my submod.

The scripts are seriously fantastic, there arnt any other mods that have really grabbed me so much, got tired with Broken Cresent after a few weeks, left Stainless Steel and Third Age after a month or so of heavy playing, loved this enough to take up modding myself and working on improving it.

As for the .bats switching files, I recently got the interface sub-mod (AWESOME!) and it has given me a big idea for using .bats to fix alot of the "problems" remaining. Different campaign scripts is just the tip of the iceberg, Vampire portraits (this one might be tough) additional uniqueness to the factions, things being as in-depth as TW's Dark Elves mod for each faction. Oh the wonderfull possibilites!

Besides, how much the scripts will bother you depends on the faction you play. Some will have to fight of a lot of invasions, but others are left alone for decent stretches of time.

this is the only scripted mod ive played and i much prefer it.
all you have to do is look at what happens to the ai when its left to its own devices. large stacks wandering aimlessly or standing in a clump doing nothing, ignoring enemys marching within inches of them, generals splitting off from their armys and going off to nowhere in particular on their own.
currently as kislev i see the he all stood on one little island going nowhere, one chaos army thats left just stood in one spot for 5 turns, the de stood in one little corner going in and out of the one city they have for 40 (!) turns and all my allies who now have loads of stacks each all clumped around their citys blocking up the countryside so i have to go miles around them just to move my troops.
i say more scripts please! cheers
