The 1st crusade

When the 1st crusade is called. If you enter what do you do with the province. Do you try to hold on to it or just forget about it.
For me, maybe some one else has tried this. But I like giving the regions to the papal. Going around and taking all the rebel provinces and just giving them to papal. I think its pretty neat having them in the holy land.

U mean Jihad also or only Crusades (From Pope)

For Jihad:I never leave the Region to the Hands of the Enemies,i play only VH/ VH,for me is very easy counter a Jihad siege

For Crusade:Never have a been a target of unholly crusade (i play only with Byzantine Empire)

I counter Siege of Crusaders at (Crusades) expansion when Venice attack Constantinople,never lost the City

why give regions to the Vampire Pope?
One time Pope sent a Crusade to Antioch,a Holy Roman army siege the city and while help them to take the city(i was allie with them)i took a message that Pope rewards me with some money and some experience for army

I keep it as a colony.
Sometimes I use the crusade army to expand out from the settlement afterwards, but mostly I just leave it there until the next crusade/whenever the enemy decides to attack.

I'm inconsistent. Sometimes I keep it as an outpost and try to expand (which seems to cripple my economy and expansion back in the homeland), sometimes I just abandon it to the hyenas in the area, and other times just for fun I've sold it back to the Egyptians for a nice bit of coin and to get back the truce/trade agreement (I'm sure the Pope appreciated that lol).
However I've only ever played on vanilla m/m. I'm just starting my first H/H on SS so we'll see what happens.

Crusade to Jerusalem -- If it comes in the very beginning like 1100 or so, I usually don't bother unless I am playing as France or Sicily and can easily make it across.

IF you take Jerusalem and wish to hold it, then you have to also take Gaza and Acre as well -- never a lone province as a far off colony, but a few.

Its cool to give provinces to the Pope, but then again you may eventually want those places for yourself ... I usually prefer to let him keep Rome and stay put.

Well in my milan vhvh. I decided I wanted to kinda be the bad faction. Took rome out. And just was like sorry pope you gotta go to eygpt xd

I usually take over the entire holy land and give it off to all the European nations. They tend to stay quiet, except for occasional rebellions. Also fun watching them hold off the Mongol and Timurid Invasions.

Crusades? Bah! Useless waste of time and energy. Why go a crusade when you can just attack the people who sent a majority of their armies to get on the crusade? More land in Europe closer to home. More money and prosperity.

I never go on a crusade unless I'm the one who comissioned it, and only then if it's against a Catholic country. Trying to fight Muslims is a waste of time. Let them keep their sand on the other side of the world.
