    Default EUIII Demo- Need help

So today, I have downloaded the Europa Universalis III demo and spent about two hours on it trying out the following factions.

    1. Teutons
    2. Portugal
    3. Austria

And I have a few questions.

Firstly, the "agent" types, merchants, diplomats, and all that are listed at the top, but how do you get more? I ditched my Portugal Campaign because I lost all my diplomats somehow and was then unable to use diplomacy at all.

Secondly, how effective is a siege vs. an assault? I took two rebel provinces as Austria via siege, but they lasted 12 months each. I wasn't sure if an assault would have been a more effective means of taking it.

Thirdly, income, how often do you get money? I have found that I was forced to go with 7 currency for a really, really long time after creating an effective army.

Fourth, Casus Belli? What is that? And how do you get them? I'd like to be able to take out Bohemia as Austria, but I don't want to take that apparent "hit" when I attack them without it.

Diplomats are based on your Leaders diplomatic skill, your religion, and Prestige. You also get a diplomat in times of war. Im probably leaving something out as well.

No. EU3 is veeery realistic when it comes to times. I usually just let the sieges get to 100%, wait for about 2 months, then assault it. If you assault as soon as you can, you will lose.

Thirdly, income, how often do you get money? I have found that I was forced to go with 7 currency for a really, really long time after creating an effective army.
You get a little money every month from taxes and trade. But you get your big annual payday at the end of the year. If you want more money, send out merchants and dont let up on them. They are a life saver. Also try adjusting and locking your economic spending to save on cash.

Fourth, Casus Belli? What is that? And how do you get them? I'd like to be able to take out Bohemia as Austria, but I don't want to take that apparent "hit" when I attack them without it.
Casus means "incident". Belli means "of war". So Incident of War

You can obtain many different CBs in the newer version of EU3, Im not sure on the demo though.

But you gain a CB against excommunicated nations, Crusaded(?) nations (If you're catholic), and some more.

If yuo uwant a CB against Austria, guarantee the independence of a nation it will probably go to war with. This will give you a CB against Austria, allowing you to attack without penalty.

Now Im not the smartes person when it comes to EU3, but I think most of this is correct
