Funny how the changing of a few choice words can change a motion picture into a political allegory:
Note: Canada is a representation of all United Nations countries that refused to join in on the Invasion of Iraq
America: Britain, I saw your ship . . .
They embrace.
BRITAIN: Oh, America!
America: It's all right, you're safe now. What are you doing out here?
BRITAIN: I was so worried about you. Canada told me terrible things.
AMERICA: What things?
BRITAIN: He said you have turned to the dark side . . . that you killed civilians.
AMERICA: Canada is trying to turn you against me.
BRITAIN: He cares about us.
AMERICA: Us??!
BRITAIN: He knows . . . He wants to help you.
AMERICA: Is Canada going to protect you? He can't ... he can't help you. He's not strong enough.
BRITAIN: America, all I want is your love.
AMERICA: Love won't save you, Britain. Only my new powers can do that.
BRITAIN: At what cost? You are a good person. Don't do this.
AMERICA: I won't lose you the way I lost my mother! I've become more powerful than any Peacekeeper has ever dreamed of and I've done it for you. To protect you.
BRITAIN: Come away with me. Help me raise our child. Leave everything else behind while we still can.
AMERICA: Don't you see, we don't have to run away anymore. I have brought peace to the United Nations. I am more powerful than Saddam. I can overthrow him, and together you and I can rule the world. Make things the way we want them to be.
BRITAIN: I don't believe what I'm hearing . . . Canada was right. You've changed.
AMERICA: I don't want to hear any more about Canada. The Peacekeepers turned against me. Don't you turn against me.
BRITAIN: I don't know you anymore. America, you're breaking my heart. I'll never stop loving you, but you are going down a path I
can't follow.
AMERICA: Because of Canada?
BRITAIN: Because of what you've done . . . what you plan to do. Stop, stop now. Come back! I love you.
AMERICA: (seeing Canada) Liar!
BRITAIN turns around and. sees CANADA standing in the doorway of the British Cruiser.
BRITAIN: No!
AMERICA: You're with him. You've betrayed me! You brought him here to kill me!
BRITAIN: NO! America. I swear ... I ...
AMERICA reaches out, and BRITAIN grabs her throat as she starts to choke.
CANADA: Let her go, America.
AMERICA: What have you and she been up to?
CANADA: Let her go!
AMERICA releases his grip on the unconscious BRITAIN and she crumples to the ground.
AMERICA: You turned her against me.
CANADA: You have done that yourself.
AMERICA: You will not take her from me.
CANADA: Your anger and your lust for power have already done that.
CANADA flings off his cloak.
CANADA: (continuing) You have allowed this Terrorist to twist your mind until now . . . until now you have become the very thing you swore to destroy.
They circle each other until CANADA is near BRITAIN. He places his hand on her.
AMERICA: Don't lecture me, Canada. I see through the lies of the Peacekeepers. I do not fear the dark side as you do. I have brought peace, justice, freedom, and security to my new Empire.
CANADA: Your new Empire?
AMERICA: Don't make me kill you.
CANADA: America, my allegiance is to the United Nations ... to democracy.
AMERICA: If you're not with me, you're my enemy.
CANADA: Only a Terrorist deals in absolutes. I will do what I must.
AMERICA: You will try.
