    Dude.

Harrison Ford. Daniel Craig. Mindless fun action romp. You can't ask for better summer entertainment. Get over yourself.

Let's think the unthinkable, let's do the undoable. Let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all.

I'd bet it will recieve a critic review of lower than 30% on Rotten Tomatoes. Besides, why does everything have to be "mindless"? When was the last time you saw a mentally stimulating movie?

So? Are you really that dependent on reviews for determining if you like a movie? Kind of sad.

It doesn't. But I like turning my brain off for a few hours every now and then. Get over it. What you need to explain if you want to have a point at all, is that if I enjoy generally thought provoking movies like Limitless, why do I have to dislike pure roller coaster rides like Cowboys and Aliens.

No need to get insulting over an asinine topic.

No I don't depend on critics to watch movies, but people with experience in cinema generally voice my opinions.

    Read above.

I agree, but the ratio of mindless to thought provoking is pretty unbalanced, in my opinion.

My issue with the movie doesn't stem from it's subject matter. It really stems from the fact that this movie is seeking to cast as wide of a net as possible, it's a shameful, summer money maker with little to no substance. It also angers me that this movie will be highly successful, whereas movies of substance get shafted.

@The fact that his is a comic:

I was unaware of that, thanks for letting me know. Hollywood is less creative than I could ever imagine.

This is nothing special. It's not like artists of any kind have never had to do work to support themselves while they did their masterpieces when they were able. Also it is not unheard of for artists of any kind to do zany things for no better purpose than to entertain themselves.

Have you ever seen Two and Half Men? Americans are stupid enough.

The only difference between the expression of an opinion and an incitement in the narrower sense is the speaker's enthusiasm for the result. Eloquence may set fire to reason." -Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.

As American sitcoms go Two and a Half Men is intelligent.

This looks awesome but only because I want to see Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford try to out man each other, plus I'll see anything with Olivia Wilde eventually. Couldn't get me to see Tron in theaters because it's Tron, but I'm sure I'll get around to watching it eventually. She alone is 13 reasons to watch a movie.

If people are willing to accept aliens coming to earth in the modern era in movies, why can't they come 130 years ago?

Other than the concept being funny to think about, what's wrong with it exactly?

I would've loved for the title to be

    "Native Americans and Aliens"

I think OP is under the assumption that hollywood coined up the premise of Cowboys vs Aliens. It's actually based on a really popular comic series.

Anyway, it's going to be far better than Transformers 3.

Yeah, at least it's back in time and I'd watch it just for the costumes and the historical sets if not for the action.

Soviets and Xenomorphs. NOW THAT would be a movie I'd pay good money to see

There's also the fact that I think, much like Jonah Hex, this really is just designed to hit the broadest possible viewer base with plenty of star power behind it. It's economics, also gambling. But what's the difference at this point. It could actually be a good film.
