Which mod do you suggest for vanilla Medieval 2?

I am looking for a good mod for vanilla Medieval 2.
Can you suggest a good one?

I like Stainless Steel and Third Age Total War, but I haven't really done too many other mods.

Well, the best of the best are SS 6.4 and BC 2.0 mods. They are the cream of the cream. easily downloadable and installed, plus there is huge community on their forums that can help you with the stuff that you need.

But do I need Kingdoms for those mods(havent got it)?

if they're in the kingdoms section, then yes you will need kingdoms, although if they have an older version available you might be able to run that through m2tw, best to ask in their respective forum section

What they said. Also, if you want a better balanced game with almost all the bugs fixed, go for Darth Mod. I played Retrofit at first, but IMO DarthMod is better. The latter not only balances units, but also improves the AI, and makes every building double priced with double the building time.
