    Default Sager vs Clevo?

I recently purchased a new laptop, with the great help of Mr. MM and his laptop buyers guide thread.

I had intended to purchase a Sager, and ended up doing business with Malibal. I talked to a great salesman who was able to answer my questions and process my order efficiently. He put a "rush" on the order and promised me the laptop for tomorrow (Friday) so I wouldn't have to wait through the 4th. It showed up today, so color me happy.

I ended up buying an Intel i7-2720qm @2.2 ghz, 12Gb of RAM, a Geforce GTX 550, 2 500 gig hard drives, a 17" screen, and a few bells and whistles for $1971.

Mr MM, what's the difference between the Sager and the Clevo? I read up as much as I could with limited internet access last week on a laptop review forum (that's how I decided to go with Malibal), and the salesman told me they are made by the same manufacturer. I find that hard to believe, but I couldn't really find an answer to that question.

Thanks again for your great advice. I'm extremely happy with this new computer.

Clevo is the OEM, and sager is the major reseller, as you saw there are many other resellers that get the merchandise from sager.

Glad you went with malibal, they have great customer service, which sager lacks and in a great amount might I add.

So you got the NP7160? I would have gone with the NP8170, just because you can upgrade, EVERYTHING, except the mobo. Or if you need that much of battery life the M17x was a good choice as well.

And I wouldnt got the 2720qm, its a waste of money unless you use the AES encryption, since the VT-d needs supports from the chipset, and the P and Q series can only be found on enterprise class hardware.

Im glad that you are satisfied with your purchase.
