    Default Desktop Build-New to this

    Hey guys,

I've been looking around for a desktop rig and this is going to be my first time with one so I would like to stick to a pre-built rather than build it myself and run the risk of screwing it up. I have taken a look at the stickies but some personalized assistance would be appreciated. I've always been with notebooks but I've decided to migrate to a desktop for a cheaper and more powerful rig to game on. My budget is pretty tight and is around $1100 CAD give or take $100 max.

I'll basically need the whole kit (screen, desktop and OS) except for the mice and keyboard.

I've put this together and it seems fairly reasonable price wise.
http://lucomputers.com/site/computer..._code=98466506 (Clicking on the orange arrow beside each part will provide alternate part options if you wish to customize it)

I've got basically 0 experience with desktops but have some general computing knowledge so my concern is whether or not I'm missing anything in terms of parts, compatibility (will my pins match up,etc), do I have enough power with the PSU (600W), is there enough cooling, value for money, etc. Basically all the noob questions.

Detailed specs and reason for selection below

    Intel Core i5 760 Quad Core 2.80GHz 8MB 2.5GT/s 95W LGA1156 $203.99
Cooler Master HYPER 212 PLUS (LGA1156/1136/775/AM3) $29.99 -Read that this was good alternative to the stock fan, but will the stock fan be enough?
Asus P7P55D-E-LX Motherboard $123.99 - Looking for one with good future upgrade abilities, has USB 3.0, SATA 6.0GBS capability, lots of ports
    Kingston 1333 DDR3 (3x2GB) (KVR1333D3N9K3/6G) $53.99
Gigabyte Video Card GV-R695D52GD $288.99 -ATI 6950. Cheaper than the 570 and I've read that you can flash it up to a 6970 which is on par with the 570.
    Onboard Audio
    Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATA III 32MB (ST31000524AS) $60.99
LG GH24LS50 SATA 24X DVD-RW DRIVE, LIGHTSCRIBE, BLACK, INTERNAL, Retail $31.99
    Onboard Network Adapter
Asus PCE-N13 PCI-EXPRESS ADAPTER, 300MBPS 802.11 B/G/N $25.99 -My house uses wireless for internet so this is a must
Coolermaster Storm Scout (Black) $79.99 -Comes with 3 fans included. Is that enough cooling? With these fans do I even need the upgraded CPU fan or can I stick with the stock one?
600W Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus RS600-PCARE3-US $67.99 -Will this provide enough power for all the components safely or do I need a 750W?
    LG W2043T-PF 20 $136.99 -A good sized screen for a good price?
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit (Installation if buy with PC/Disc/License) $118.99 -They will install it for me so it saves me the trouble and possible errors.
Free extend to total 3 years parts and labor warranty with purchase any Windows OS Buying the OS also bumps up the warranty to 3 years parts and labour. Convenenient since I live 5 minutes away from their store.

    Total Price: 1222.69

Thank you very much for your time and any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

i5 760 is obsolete, get an i5 2500K for the same price and 15%-30% more performance and massively larger overclocking headroom. Get some real RAM like Corsair or G-Skill, and you'll need dual channel for the i5 2500K. You'll also need a different motherboard because i5 2500K will need LGA 1155 socket.

make sure the motherboard is a P67 or Z68 board otherwise the 2500k wont overclock, ppl will suggest the 2500k and 2600k over the 2500 and 2600 because only K series Intel chips now overclock

from my understanding both of the chips can overclock, the k's are just alot easier.

Not correct.. pretty sure you are stuck at stock speed with the normal i5 2500. Oh and be careful when flashing the bios of the 6950. While it does increase performance, the extra voltage from the 6970 bios can be a possible risk to your card. Just a warning.

In response to the CPU cooler. Its great for low to mid range overclocking of CPUs. If you want higher then 4.5 or 4.6 with low temps you may want a better cooler, BUT a 4.5 overclock on a 2500k is more then enough for gaming, encoding, and other daily things.
