EU commission proposes 5 % budget increase for the EU
I haven't found an English language link for it but this article describes the proposal which apparently was approved by the EU commission.
Personally I am deeply disgusted with the budget since it completely ignore the need for austerity measures and also contain an attempt to give the EU power of direct taxation.
We know that at least Sweden and the UK are against it.
So who here think it is a good idea to increase the EU budget and also allow them power of direct taxation?

Re: EU commission proposes 5 % budget increase for the EU
Under purely theoretical terms, EU budget should be around 7% of the GDP, meaning a 700% increase of the current one.
Anyways, budget has to be approved by the Council and the Parliament, and direct taxaction would probably require changing treaties, no need for rampant Europhobia.
