apparently they are the good kind haha, most western nations and media sources supporting the war in Libya praised one suicide bomber named Al Mendhi in Benghazi early on in the revolt. He loaded his car with cylinders of cooking gas, then hit a Libyan military base in Benghazi. CNN interviewed his family, and they were calling him a hero. According to them, this kind of action is acceptable. You can clearly see the double standard, but some might not see it as it wouldn't fit their agendas...

Also this Jean-Luc Nancy guy was a french asset in Libya instigating this revolt from the beginning, he was in Benghazi during the revolt and was the man who reported back to French president Sarkozy and persuaded for airstrikes....google him if u like

I don't remember guys name but SBS did carry that report from CNN (or some other channel from the states). It actually showed the army post or something else and i remember them saying that they could not get through until somebody used their car as a bomb.

SBS did not say much about right or wrong but just had that report as a part of larger story about Benghazi and Libya Tribal war.

    Washington Post reports too:

Rebel forces in Libya that have sought to take advantage of U.S.-backed airstrikes appear to include a small number of fighters with ties to al-Qaeda, American officials said Tuesday.

    Another article from the Australian:

Al-Qa'ida has been cultivating its contacts in Libya for decades. Its key ally there is the old Libyan

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Al-Qa'ida has been cultivating its contacts in Libya for decades. Its key ally there is the old Libyan Islamic Fighting Group which was formed in 1995 to overthrow President Muammar Gaddafi and contribute to the international jihadist campaign. Despite Gaddafi's long-term support for international terrorism, he is regarded by Islamic militants as an apostate ruler who has betrayed his promise to make Libya an Islamic republic.

US terrorism analyst Bill Roggio from the Long War Journal says north and eastern Africa have proven fertile ground for al-Qa'ida with their restive Muslim populations, oppressive governments and lawless regions that make ideal sites for terrorist training camps.

The Libyan Islamic Fighting Group was set up by Libyans who had fought against the Soviet army in Afghanistan in the 1980s, several of whom went on to take up key positions in the al-Qa'ida command structure. Many of the group's founding members trained in al-Qa'ida camps in Afghanistan, according to a report by the US Council on Foreign Relations.

Al-Qa'ida's leader in Afghanistan until his death in 2008, Abu Laith al-Libi, was a Libyan, as is the senior field commander regarded by some US intelligence analysts as Osama bin Laden's heir apparent, Abu Yahya al-Libi.

Yesterday' s WikiLeaks documents show that at least one former detainee who was set free, Abu Sufian Ibrahim Ahmed Hamuda bin Qumu, is training with rebel forces in Libya and has close ties to al-Qa'ida.

OK, I don't believe the source either but it's not beyond comprehension that some of the rebels (a small percentage hopefully) would actually use terror strikes.

PS. I don't think that loading your car with explosives and attacking a military base is terrorism. It's insurgency. You sacrifice yourself to hit soldiers. If you hit a bank or an evil goverment building = killing civilians that disagree with you or just doing their job so they can get payed, then it's terrorism.
And yes I think some terrorists would be among the rebels.

We will see the full face of the rebels when they enter Tripoli. If there are massacres then it's an "ooops" situation. If there are "just" some sporadic violence against the loyalists then things are better.
IMO, there would be bloodshed when the rebels get in Tripoli. Not as bad as Gaddafi's but certainly apaling. I.e. I hope they're not as bad as Gaddafi, but they're not saints either.

Pissing off your countrymen and destroying the country for more than 40 years tends to lead to this kind of reaction...

Well technically Libya is one of the most developed nation in Africa/Middle East, it's GDP or GDP per capita is one of highest in Africa/Middle East, also better overall infrastructure in the country. In terms of Social security, its health care which is free is more advanced than any african or even some middle eastern nations and also how many countries in Africa/Middle East have free education? Of course like many other Arab nations, they have a problem with unemployment and in economic terms, to have full employment a country should have at least 6% unemployment rate and Libya has 21%, so a 15% difference which could be due to, as it is in many other Arab countries to foreign workers who are brought to fill a gap in you workforce when the locals lack specific skills or aren't interested in the menial jobs. I'm not trying to rant how great Gaddafi is but your arguement of him destroying his country is invalid...

I haven't posted on TW for awhile but I had to chime in when I read this.

Firstly, could you please offer some examples and/or evidence, preferably with links and readable material?

I've done my own research recently, and quite honestly the more I read about the history of Khadafi and Libya, the more I question the picture painted for us by the mainstream western media. There are many factors about this war that don't add up, but I'll address your point specifically here.

You say Khadafi has been pissing off his countrymen and destroying the country for more than 40 years, yet I'd like to point to these facts:

    - Libya has the highest Human Development Index ranking in Africa by quite a large margin at 0.755 and a world ranking of 53rd. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...elopment_Index

    - Libya is ranked 5th in Africa and 63rd worldwide in terms of GDP per capita. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...%29_per_capita

    - Khadafi dedicated an estimated $25 billion US into developing what is known as "The Great Man Made River Project." This is the largest ever aquifer irrigation project that tapped the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System that lies underneath Libya, the largest fossil water reservoir known to man. The system pumps around 6,500,000 m3 of fresh water for drinking, agriculture, industry, etc. per day. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Manmade_River

    - Numerous other examples include substantial healthcare services, educational services and other social services, especially for that region.

I just find it very hard to believe that he's been angering his countrymen and destroying his country for 40 years in light of these facts. These specifics seem to be in direct contradiction to what you're claiming.

And this isn't meant to paint Khadafi as a saint, but only to raise questions about the portrayal of Khadafi by the western mainstream media.

Once a political decision has been reached to proceed with internal disturbances in Syria, CIA is prepared, and SIS (MI6) will attempt to mount minor sabotage and coup de main [sic] incidents within Syria, working through contacts with individuals. Incidents should not be concentrated in Damascus. [A] necessary degree of fear, [...] frontier incidents and [staged] border clashes [will] provide a pretext for intervention. The CIA and SIS should use [...] capabilities in both psychological and action fields to augment tension. [Funding should be provided for a] Free Syria Committee [and arms should be supplied to] political factions with paramilitary or other actionist capabilities.

Possibly this is just another propaganda from RT,but Al Qaida participation can't be excluded and seems quite likely, considering Ghadaffi's secular outlook and his hostile attitude towards Libyan Islamists(and not only towards them, the dissapearance of Imam Al-Sadr during his Libyan visit, had caused outrage of many moderate Muslims too and not only among Shias).

Pretty much. I think the role of Islamism among Libyan rebels is downplayed by pro-rebel propaganda to create a moer positive image for them.
