Default A Conservative in "Liberal Land"

    Yes, thats right.

Well you all know me, evil right-wing nutjob. But I happen to have the great (mis)fortune to live in the fine State of Washington. For all of you who don't know, Washington would be a very liberal area. Well at least the parts of Washington where all the population is...

Anyways, it is always a struggle for me to even speak to my peers and fellow Washingtonians. Many of them absolutly despise the right, to the point of corrupting a legitimately won Republican election in favor of the Democrat (those be the American Libs yo) Party.

Every time I praise our fine president (thatun be Bush) I get dirty looks and a debate starts. Usually Its about 1 vs 30. I mean, I can stand being around liberals but when they start to critisize everything I say just because of my political beliefs its a wee bit absurd (by wee I mean I want to shoot them in the head with 4 clips of .22 ammo)

So I decided to come and make this thread among my esteemed...co-(TW)crackers here. Just to let out my pain, misery, frustration, and all the other things we know and love about you libs.

ps. perhaps this should be in the mudpit

well it sucks that you have to deal with opposite persons views there.
But i live in Bloomington, where almost EVERYONE is a liberal.
But we still have a good number of conservatives.
Mostly people saying abortion is wrong.

it's the exact opposite for me. I was one of the few "libs" at my school. Most of the kids were rich, so their parents support the republican tax cuts for the rich and so then their kids also generally supported the republican party. Around election time, my friends called me the "liberal commie", "tree hugger" etc. ahhh, high school

Yes, political stereotypes suck just as much as racial ones do, I think. Plus, it doesn't help either side get things done.

My bottom line has always been that while I have a stance on things, and they usually tend to be liberal, I should always at least hear out the other side and try to understand where they're coming from. Because at it's most basic, the two American parties are both in the business of politics to make America better, they just have different ideas on how to do it.

We need to work together, ultimately, which is why it doesn't do anyone any good to get caught in the mindset that "the other side is always wrong, and they are destroying America," because that just isn't true.

Exactly, as that is what I have said many times. 99/100 Conservatives, and 99/100 Liberals want to make the country better, we just have different ways to do it.

As I said before, two of my three best friends are liberal, and I think one of the two may be a Green. The other best friend is anti-Iraq War. My least favorite teacher is a Republican. That shows you how much I care about what political party someone belongs too, and how much you or anyone should care.

Strange story though, until about the begginning of this year, my entire school thought I was a Democrat, and I suprised them by saying I was a Republican. I guess they assumed that because I was nice and intelligent I was a Democrat, but I am trying to disprove the stereotype that all Republicans are mean or stupid.

But sadly the bulk of media and ranting focuses on that 1 out of 100 which distorts both the right and left to make both look like nothing but fringe nutjobs. Most liberals arent Jesus hating communist and most conseratives arent warmongering crusaders but the stereotype is often focused upon even on these forums you see it creep in some posts.

IMO since your a 14 year old your not a conservative, you are what your parents are or what peer pressure tells you to be. I dont believe anyone to be of any political type until they are at least in their 20s.

Yes well. Both my parents are liberals.

I believe I have the sufficient intelligence to make my own decisions. Besides if it came to peer pressure I would be an idiotic leftist who doesn't know the difference between Liberal and Conservative.

    oh and I am 15

People want to be different. When I was younger I viewed myself as a conservative. AS I have grown older I have shifted closer to the middle with some leftist leanings and became more of a libretarian.

I think when you get older your political views will mature, remember even liberals have souls (rofl!)

If my political views aren't "real." If my political views are just temporary then I guess all of the debates I have taken part in, all of my beliefs don't matter

Well ask the question to yourself:
Do you think those debates actually mattered to YOU and only you. Or did it do nothing?
