Just noticed this for the first time in my retainers... anyone know how much it actually reduces reload?

I'm thinking it will be about -5, similar to the other ranged debuffs.

might be percentage, -5 to matchlock ashigaru makes them worthless, they start with 10 reload.

has to be at least -10. Someone used this on me once and my matchlock milita had a relaod skill of 1. It really killed me that battle.

I'm more shocked more people do not play this retainer...considering how many people hate on matchies all the time.

Yeah doesn't seem that common, I don't have it and I don't think I've played someone who used it against me.

Unfortunately I lost this fight to another copy paste army... came down to his 53 naginata sams left getting lucky and killing my general (my last unit left). It was a good fight against the most unoriginal army of our current MP state. Will do a commentary tomorrow. I lol'd when I saw all his matchlocks had 1 reload though they were sooo slow to fire.

There are two pieces, the "Akechi Mitsuharu" set. Both are post-battle random drops.

I would still be hesitant to use this retainer, since armies that don't bring matchlocks are fairly common. In addition, it's not cost effective unless the enemy brings many, many matchlocks, and/or only brings non-veterans. Remember a retainer slot is 200 koku of your general's cost; each matchlock reload upgrade costs 50 koku and also adds 10 reload, so unless he brings more than 4 matchlock units you're breaking even at best. The effect of -10 reload to highly upgraded matchlock monks and samurai is probably negligible, anyway, so you might be better off with another retainer.

The thing about retainers that inflict penalties on the enemy is that you want to be damn sure they're actually going to work on him. Fugu chef, World Weary (when facing high ranked opponents) and Bad Omen are good bets. Cavalry and missile penalties are more iffy; I bring those only when I myself am coming into a battle cav or missile heavy (respectively) and want to reinforce my advantage. I've had situations where NONE of my enemy's retainers worked, because they were all penalties on units I didn't have, or were countered (wizened monk countering metsuke, etc).

^Precisely but it was a little fun to try out a retainer that I haven't really seen before. Granted out of 5 battles it was only really worth it to take it to one. It's one of those retainers that might be useful for tournaments or what not where you have a inkling of your opponents strategy.
