Default how to add games to steam with windows 7

I want to transfer some non-steam games to my steam library, so it becomes easier to take screenies (instead of everytime loading fraps, and converting your 3.5MB files into a jpeg). When you do it, you get a list of programs, and if your desired item isn't in the list, you can browse.

After a long search i found out where the "games" map is on your disc, but when you go steam-add non steamgame-browse, games, the map is empty, or at least there are no available icons. so how do i do this?

    simply really

    open steam

    go to LIBRARY

look at the bottom left you should see ADD GAME

select the option "select non steam game"

let the list populate and just check all the games you wish to add to steam doing this allows the steam overlay to work in game and it will launch your games etc,

otherwise if you wish to add games that arent listed automatically,

you will need to browse for them go to Local Disk C:

then program files for win32 or program files x86 on a 64bit OS

find the games install folder for exampleLocal Disk C:/ Program Files x86/ Bethesda / Morrowind
inside the games folder you will see the EXE for the game, select the EXE click open and there you go.

Doesn't that only work if the game doesn't need a disc to start with?

Also, does anyone know if it's possible to not only add non Steam games to Steam, but also to be able to track the time played on each one?

yeah you are 100% right, i guess i was a bit too soon with my enthousiasm. and indeed, the hours played aren't recorded. the only upside is that its now easier to take screenshots
