Default Light Cavalry...winged Demons of the battlefield

So in a battle, a unit of heavy cavavlry charged my spears and the spear wall took only 30 casualties. Then some light cavalry charged. 2 horsmen got through the arrow storm, yet when they hit, they immediately caused 15 casulties. I can only imagine what would have happened had they all survived the charge to my units. Are there any sub mods that can fix this?

Maybe the arrow storm hit your guys too.

Light cavalry (along with everything else) has been reworked in the new version of RC. Which won't be out for a while.

If you don't want to wait, reduce the mass of light cavalry and their charge bonus.

Einstein didn't actually say that, did he?

Then the spearmen will do better when charged by heavy cavalry and when charging infantry.

Decent light cavalry is actually very rare to recruit. And early on, when your infantry truly sucks, it is historically accurate to have any sort of cavalry as a battlefield dominator. Your field armies should be mostly composed of cavalry in the Early period (with infantry playing mostly subordinate roles and serving as meat shields), unless you're an infantry specialist faction (like Denmark).
"Romans not only easily conquered those who fought by cutting, but mocked them too. For the cut, even delivered with force, frequently does not kill, when the vital parts are protected by equipment and bone. On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."

    - Flavius Vegetius Renatus (in Epitoma Rei Militari, ca. 390)
