    Default Heritics!!!

    I know heretics play more of a part in 6.4 so this is just a vent.
    Playing a hotseat game and one of my 3piety bishops turned into a 9piety heretic and my cardinal couldnt kill him so i sent an army of priest at him. The reslult you ask? I now have two level 10, two level 9, a level 8, two level 7, and a level 5 heretic in the same region and my cardinal cant kill one of them lol..that is all

    In the SS 6.4 install instructions page here in TWC it mentions that it's better to use assassins to dispose of heretics. And they really work, I do the same as you only with assassins (which is make a bunch of them and send them on to heretics). This will cause at least one of your assassins to get a lot of subterfuge points and you can then kill all the heretics with ease.

    The best part in this is that afterwards you can use your high-subterfuge assassin(s) to kill foreign characters such as merchants, family members, etc.

    I know it was so early in the game i didnt have any assassins...early era hotseat campaign...i just wanted to see how may would turn heretic...also this was at york as i am the english and now over half of the heretics are in scottish lands lol

    Never send anything other than a Cardinal unless your odds are above 80% and don't do it repeatedly. If it fails a few times why would you keep on? Cardinal might take a few turns but is usually eventually successful. Assassins also can succeed if given multiple tries. Targets seem to die much faster if they survive more than once assassination attempt so a small team of assassins definitely seem to do better.

    I never even recruit any priests to deal with this problem, just because it creates a tidal wave of prophets. Assassins do indeed work best, and heretics are a fine way to 'practice' for your killers.

    I enjoy the aspect of the game wehre i recruit a bunch of bible thumpers, and send them (and my assassins!) to take care of heretics.

    The one change I would like to see to this would be adding a notification on the begin a turn splat of important things that happened, if one of my priests goes rogue.
    I dont always have the patience to check every preist from every city (and I do try and keep one in each city/castle that i have). It woudl be nice to have it pop up, like it does if a merchie gets attacked, or a traitor switches side.

    And can i just say, i dont much like the Senior (something) cavalry? Bastards are hard to kill!

    Military execution. Proven way to get rid of all hard agents.

    Leave it to the modder to perfect the works of the paid developers for no profit at all.

    It does get annoying when you have to have little picketts of 9 units so that you can go and destroy 1 heretic.

    They are searching the countryside looking for the heretic who is being hidden by sympathetic villagers. I think its a bit of an exploit but when overrun by heretics I don't think the local nobility would be as interested in a trial and legal execution as the Church might be.

    They often stick to riverbanks, forest edges or mountain ridges where units can't go - often four or five units suffice to kill them if you wait a turn or two until they walk into a dead end ...

    Im having a real hard time with 6.4 and with heresy in my current campaigns... however, Im guessing having playing on VH campaign difficulty is going to add to that, anyway even fully maxxed out cardinals and assassins are still having their jobs cut out with these guys!!

    Im playing as scotland with 11 heretics in one region. Every priest I send just gets converted. I've bought so many preists my faction is now facing some serious money issues. I HATE HERETICS!!!

    It's because they're overpowered in 6.4. There were some threads around here for reducing their over-the-top bonuses.
