Steam launcher loop

Hi Guys,

Fresh install of MTW2:K from steam. Works fine. Installed 6.3. Worked fine.

Installed the 6.4 patch, and now every time I try and run the game (from steam, from the launcher, wherever) it just loops constantly. I click 'play' and select stainless steel. It then goes back and brings up the launcher again. Clicking the shortcut does likewise. I've tried changing the steam shortcut. I've made sure I installed whilst on administrator rights. Nothing works.

I'd prefer to play 6.4, but I may have to stick to 6.3 unless someone can help?

From Bug Reports for 6.4:

Most importantly, if you encounted a CTD or CTM(crash to menu) on faction selection and you just installed 6.4, this is most probably an UAC\VirtualStore Problem.
The release thread has a solution to this, another way would be to install 6.3 in a different folder outside Program Files, and install 6.4 on it. Due to the nature of the launcher this solution will work.

Did you deactivate UAC while installing 6.4? Did the release thread solution work for you?

did you run ss_setup after installing 6.4?
