Please Help Me!!

Hi there,

I discovered your wonderful mod early last week. Firstly i would like to say how much fun it is to play.
Secondly, i am upset as i cannot play it at the moment.
My laptop has gone into melt down since i installed and started playing the game. I do not know what may have caused it but is it in anyway possibly the EB1.2 has done this?
I run Win7 64 on a new machine, i have Rome B.I 1.6 installed. I followed the installation instructions and the game works. I had to download the reconmended fix for BI which was listed on the Total War centre site. Is it possible that this "fix" may have triggered it. Has anyone else mentioned any problems of this nature?

P.S. When i say my laptop is broken, it won't load windows and asks me to run the start up repair tool.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as i would love to play the game.

P.P.S i am playing as Bactria.

I doubt this has anything to do with EB, but we'll do it step-by-step to be sure.

1. Since when does your laptop show this kind of error? (directly after you installed EB, after the first reboot, a longer time span)
2. Did your laptop became really hot while playing EB and thus shut down by itself?
3. Please link this 'fix' you are talking about so I can check that
4. Did you install any other programs between EB and the now received error?

Thanks for replying so quickly.

1. I downloaded and installed it one evening. Took my laptop to work in the morning, turned it on and it does not work.
2. My laptop did get hot while i was playing EB but did not shut itself down.
3. Ferromancer's submod that allows EB to run on BI.
4 I Did not install any other programs since EB.

However, i think that it is possible that windows will not boot up because of a registry error, the code is:

x:\windows\system32\cmd.exe

After some research i have discovered that it is likely a registry error which has caused windows not to load. Is it possible EB could have caused this or not?
I would really like to install EB on my GF's laptop but don't want to if EB could potentially cause system instability.

This can't be answered for truth, I don't know what other programs are installed on your system. It could be that the installer created a false entry, BUT EB only creates registry values outside from Windows sensitive areas and thus should not crash the system on booting.

Load up Windows in safe mode and uninstall everything related to EB (RTW,BI,EB). If that does not work or the uninstaller fails and if you know how to handle regedit delete EB's entries manually.
A second try would be to get into Windows self repair and using the built-in fix for the booting process.

Thanks again for your help.
I am unable to load windows in safe mode as it does not allow this with my preinstalled windows 7.l
In stead i did returned my computer to factory settings but still have the same problem. I suspect i may have a hardware problem which happened to coincide with my EB installation. I think EB is not to blame. Is it possible i have a virus or a worm? Is it possible i downloaded it from the website which hosts Ferromancer's mod?

Can't say from here if you have a worm, what I can say definitely is that if you download EB from our own site you don't get any viruses. I highly doubt that Ferromancer's personal site spreads malware. Depending on your security settings you can infect your system everywhere.
