Documenting my first campaign in M2TW.
I forged early alliances with France and Sicily. Hoping to secure my western and southern borders. Especially once Milan and Venice have been dealt with.
Phase 1: Captured Rebel Settlements of Dijon, Metz, and Bern (Minimal losses) (Offered Metz & Dijon to France as a gesture of good faith but they didn't fully trust my intentions despite our alliance)
Phase 2: Liberated Hamburg, Magdeburg, and Stettin from rebel scum (Minimal losses)
Phase 3: Marched on Prague and was enraged at the Polish advance on Breslau. War was declared and skirmishes ensued. (Moderate losses)
The Poles caught me off guard with their noble missile cavalry. This encounter dramatically changed my tactics to a Mongolian-esque horde of cavalry.
Phase 4: Sacked Breslau and slaughtered every captured Pole. (Nearly zero losses) (Poland sends emissary to negotiate for the city - DENIED!)
Phase 5: Pope calls for Crusade of the Holy Land Jerusalem. The Reich gladly answers the call. (Moderate losses)
Phase 6: In the wake of taking Jerusalem, The Reich sweeps across the Islamic desert engulfing nearby cities of Acre, Gaza, and Damascus (Minimal losses overall)
Phase 7: War with Egypt was slow and brutal. Secured Alexandria but stalled outside Cairo. (Heavy casualties)
Phase 8: Back to the European front, Poland and Hungary ally against the Reich. As retaliation, Budapest is destroyed and it's population massacred. (Minimal losses...for us)
Phase 9: Milan attempts to siege Dijon and are thrown violently back to Genoa and their capital. (Minimal losses)
Phase 10: Venice's hatred for their fellow Italian's leads them to ally with The Empire. Milan ceases to exist as the Reich claims the capital and Genoa with a two-pronged assault. (Moderate losses, Milan Destroyed)
Phase 11: With Milan gone, Venice sees an opportunity to move against the Reich. They are driven out of the area and their capital is ours (Minimal losses)
Phase 12: More battles with Poland and Hungary in open fields. All leading to victory for the Reich. ----- In Africa, Cairo is finally taken after a tough fought battle. The Pharaoh is beheaded in the town square. (Moderate losses, Egypt destroyed)
Phase 13: The Reich expands it's desert lands and takes the rebel settlements of Jeddah and Dongola. (Minimal losses, The entire SE of the map is HRE territory.)
Phase 14: Trade with the English is approved. Which leads to an uneasy alliance. Expansion continues eastward as Krakow is taken from the Polish and Bran from Hungary. (Moderate losses)
Phase 15: War between our allies the French and British break out (as expected). We choose to stand by our long standing friend, France (In a moral support way of course.)
Phase 16: Continue to batter the Polish armies. Took the castle of Thorn. (Minimal losses)
Phase 17: The Danes launch an unexpected assault on Hamburg. Such a shame that it had a full garrison and they didn't even have half a stack. (No losses, Routed quickly)
Phase 18: In response to the Danish attack, We take Arhus with little to no effort (Minimal losses). Continued sweep across Hungary as Bucharest is now ours. (Minimal losses).
Phase 19: Pope calls for another Crusade this time against Tunis. He wants the Kaiser to personally lead the Crusading army. He obliged and became The Crusader! (Minimal losses).
Phase 20: Just like with Jerusalem, I used Tunis as a launching pad and swept through Algiers and eventually Marrakesh. (Moderate losses).
Phase 21: The Mongolian Horde arrives in the far east led by the rabid and feared Genghis Khan. Subsequently, I set in motion the movement of the bulk of my troops toward the eastern edge of the Empire. As well as a wave of assassins and spy's.
Phase 22: Last stand of Hungary at Sofia. (Minimal losses, Hungary Destroyed). Rebel settlement of Zagreb taken with ease.
Phase 23: Byzantine Empire strikes at sea, Blockading ports and harassing my small neglected navies. Ship production boosted by 200%. (Tons of good seamen drowned)
Phase 24: Polish settlements of Vilnius and Rega sacked (Minimal losses). Multiple assassination attempts on Mongolian generals fail miserably. One does succeed though, Khanzada son of Genghis is slain.
Phase 25: What was 5 became 10. Turns out the assassination didn't sit very well with Khan. 5 more Mongolian armies arrived led by new faction heir Khanzada Batu. More assassination attempts fail.
Phase 26: England lays siege to Hamburg. In our first confrontation with a former ally, They are crushed and made an example of. (Minimal losses).
Phase 27: English Princess comes to negotiate peace after the failed English assault. She is married to our Prince which aligns our Nations once again as allies.
Phase 28: Longest running friendship with Sicily comes to an end. They blockaded two ports in attempt to squeeze the richest Kingdom in the world. I shout out "DO YOU HAVE NO HONOR?!?!?!?" This dastardly attack on our economy will not go unpunished.
Phase 29: Pope calls for yet another Crusade. This time it's Cordoba. Not a problem as usual. Christendom shall win over all. (Moderate losses)
Phase 30: Northern army advances into Danish territory on the northern peninsula. Bearing down on Stockholm. Battles ensue in the forests. King Gunnar of the Danes is the sole survivor for 2 consecutive battles as he outran the Imperial Cavalry horde to the safety of Stockholm. Our troops dubbed him "Das schwer fassbare ein" or "The Elusive One". His son wasn't so fortunate. (Minimal losses).
Phase 31: Siege of Antwerp, Taken from the Danes and defended from the Scots. (Moderate losses).
Phase 32: CURRENT - We are in the planning stages for the siege of the last Moorish city of Grenada. Our expansions in the SW will halt there. We do not wish to go to war with the Spaniards or Portugal. Sadly, Our efforts in the East have been stymied by my timidness and reluctance. The Mongolian's have made no effort to move on any settlements. They just stand by clustered together hoping somebody is stupid enough to attack them. I have lost 3 entire armies including a general to desertion and rebellion while waiting for the Mongols to advance in our territory. The traitor general, Volkmarr von Kniprode now lays in wait to ambush his former brothers-in-arms. The only thing keeping him alive is pleads for mercy from his brother and loyal general Gerard von Kniprode. If diplomacy fails to bribe him back to our side I'll order Gerard to face off with his younger brother army versus army, command versus command. Only one brother will live. The Byzantine Empire has Damascus under siege and they are tough to break. My only failed siege attempt came trying to take Aleppo. They utilize catapults extremely well.
