    Default Marriages

I never really understood what benefits marrying a princess with a other nation's general brings. I heard it gets you some kind of alliance with this faction, but i don't know anything more.

What is marrying princesses good for? Does it brings any major benefits?

If you marry your princess to another nations general or family member and everything goes okay, that general will become part of your royal family. However, if everything doesn't go okay, she could be disgraced and marry the general under different circumstances, becoming part of the opposing faction. The general could also just say no, in which case, nothing happens. Your princess might lose some charm. The only way to get an alliance is to either marry your princess to the faction leader or heir of the opposing faction. Hope that was helpful.

One thing I can't understand. How does she lose her charm ))))
Charm should not depend on her failures.

I guess it's because she was rejected.

Arranged marriages are only possible to the faction heir or leader. Doing so will get you an alliance, and will improve your relations very much. In that way it might be better than a 'regular' alliance.

I try to do this as much as possible, if I want to keep my family name living on. Marrying her to another faction takes away the risk of having some random general marrying into your family and messing up the blood line.

The foreign family member might also be from a royal bloodline which could give the possible future children some nice bonuses. I once had an aragonese king who had aragonese, portuguese, french and venetian blood. Although the french and venetian relations were too thin to give any bonuses.

Im picky about accepting such marriages. most of my ladies end up bawling their virgin asses off in a convent.

Not really part of the OP's question but somewhat close enough I figured I would put it here instead of starting a new thread.

If you marry a Princess to a General, and then the General gets a Man of the Hour pop and you bring him into the family tree, does it bring the Princess and any children into the tree as well?

If you marry a princess to a general, he is already in the family tree because he's married your princess

Or the word "already" implies that the general was a part of the family tree before he married the princess.

If you marry her to one of your own Generals they don't join the tree, or I ran into a bug.

I am playing LE Roman Campaign and wanted to bring the Komnenos family back into power.

If you marry a princess to your general or get another factions general to marry her that general will be added to your family tree and shouldnt get a man of the hour after that

Man of the Hour comes after a victory in battle. I don't think weddings have anything to do with it.

yes but a man of the hour only applies to non family member generals and if that general has already married your princess then he would be a family member and then couldnt have a man of the hour event

You ran into a bug or a random occurrence methinks. He is supposed to be in your family tree after that.
