Default which of the 5670 is the best choice?

I'm thinking of getting a 5670 ATI Graphics card, the problem is that I don't know which is the better option. I'm not too technical, so i'm not sure which is best suited for me. I usually play older games (M2TW mods) and might pick up shogun in the future. I don't know if I should go for the 512 mb or 1 g.
    PCI-E
    Windows Xp Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz
    500 PSU 18 A on 12 V rail
    max resolution 1280 x 1024

My computer is a bit old, so I'm hoping these cards will work.

Here are the two I've been looking at :

HIS 5670 - I was original just going to get this one, but I figured I'd ask around first.

    Sapphire 5670-512 mb

And here are the rest of the 5670 series, only a few others if someone knows of a better suggestion.

This. 512mb is obsolete nowadays, and the 1gb version is cheaper.

I recently got the Sapphire 512MB version. I was looking at getting the MSI 1GB for another £6, but I'd read alot of negative stuff about the card and MSI itself.

I got mine for M2TW Kingdoms, thinking it wouldn't cope with newer games, but it looks like it will be okay, judging from my own experience and videos on YouTube.

This is the card I got:

Heres a screenshot of the Dragon Age 2 demo, released in February this year, at 1920x1080 and medium graphics settings:

It played brilliantly, with no choppiness or slowdown at all. There was some quite severe tearing in scenes with fire effects though, but that could probably be sorted out by applying V-sync, which I think was disabled on the demo.

Despite the image of the actual card showing a single expansion slot, its actually dual.

    Here are my system specs:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
    CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 555 @ ~3.2GHz
    Mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA78LMT-U52H
    RAM: 2x 2GB Hynix Single-Channel DDR3 @ 535MHz
    GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD5670 512MB
    PSU: ATX 450W

I'd highly recommend the 512MB version. For the price I paid, it was a total bargain.

We recently went from a GeForce 8600 GT to a 1Gig Sapphire 5670...
I like the card...for what it cost us (I think around something like 150-175 canadian, installation thrown in) it allows our older system (late '06-early '07 components) to run the Total War games (and most others) at High or some Very High settings.
