Game won't launch - No error message

I recently installed RSII on my computer, however, when I try to launch it, the launcher simply disappears and the game client doesn't launch. No error messages pop up. The game just doesn't launch. When I try to launch the game via the .bat files, I get the following error:

RomeTW-ALX.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point _AIL_init_3D_sample_handle@12 could not be located in the dynamic link library mss32.dll.

I downloaded the mss32.dll file that it mentions and extracted it into my RomeTW folder, but the error still occurs. This happens regardless of whether or not I use the RomeTW, RomeTW-BI, or RomeTW-ALX .bat files.

The game was fully patched and unmodded prior to installation. Install directory is C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War. My computer is fully capable of running Rome vanilla and RSI without issue.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Try to install it out of Program Files

Okay, I managed to figure it out. I'll post what I did here for in case anyone has the same problem.

Turns out that the mss32.dll file that i had was a newer version than the one used by the game, so I went to My Computer and opened the RomeTW disc, copied the correct version of mss32.dll from RomeTw\Setup\Data and pasted it into my RSII folder and it worked.

Thanks for explaining what you did - many people just post "I've solved it" and never explain why. Frustrating when a lot of problem solving is based on other's experiences.
