Zooming in the Map

Hey this is my first post. I just got into modding and tweaking M2TW in the last month or 2. just 2 quick(ish) things.

1. i have a idea for making my own campaign centered around germany and france and would like to be polite and ask to use some SS content (map, some units and factions).
2. before i can even start i need a germany/france map and i was thinking of either using vanilla or SS, but i want to just zoom in on the 1 area. is there a way to do that without creating a whole map from scratch (scary sounding) kinda like what ive heard "Lands to Conquer" does with just simply a zoomed in "minimap" of the grand campaign.

Do you mean that you would like to make a SS6.4 mini-mod that deals with just a few kingdoms? That's what I am assuming you are proposing. Have you looked at St. Polycarpe's War of the West? It deals with a portion of Western Europe. He might be interested in giving you a few pointers. There is no way to "zoom in" on the map.

Gigantus offered some premade maps from satellite imagery. You could start with one of those. He also wrote a tutorial on basic map making.

Good luck on your mod. The smaller the scope: time period, unit sizes, kingdoms involved...the easier it should be.

yes I believe mini-mod is the correct term. ill look into that, ive only played 3 mods so far and i been playin SS6.3 (6.4 crashed within minutes of me playing it). i guess a better way to state my question is it possible to quickly crop a map, leaving territorys, cities, factions and so on intact (and to be cleaned up after) or do i need to start learning mapping from scatch?

I suggest you look in the Mod Workshop for tutorials on mapping to see if what you want to do is possible.
