not worth it, its not playable.. it is called EU rome because its like u only can play rome...
play rome total war ...
What?
I thought you could play as Carthage, Epirus, Seleucids etc etc
yea, it says in the description you can play 53 different factions.
Anyways, im downloading the demo now, but would anyone recomend buying it for 9/10$ ? Judging from the EU3 demo im not sure if i'll actually know if its worth it.

It was surprisingly good if a bit overwhelming without tutorials and a bit annoying all the governers of the provinces were like 80 years old so at least one died a month. (and those dirty carthagineans cheat, i invaded africa with a 10k legion and they sent like 15k militia at me, i killed over 11k malitia and lost ~2k but i still lost the battle.... )
also i just noticed this isnt a sale its the new price, im thinking it would definitly be worth it during the summer sale when it will probably be like 5 dollars.

what i meant is that u cant play the others because they are to weak and boring... sure u r ABLE to play them but teh whole gam eis historically inaccurate and boring it gives the impression as if the developers were asleep while producing this piece....
well if u like to play rome go ahead it snot liek there are any serious enemies to defeat

Bastard child of the europa series, not really worth it.
On the other hand, that might just be my own rage over the game for making my senate rebel against me EXACTLY the same time i have no manpower and barbarians sacking my colonies...GRRRR
Vae Victus made it alot better, but still not anywhere near EU3 imo.
Still worth playing if you like that type of game though.
Rome was my first Paradox game, and I was a bit dissapointed with it to be honest. You have ping-pong battles, lack of many different factions after the local power gobbles up the nearby powers, and cascading alliances. Also, without wanting to appear too negative, the barbarian colonisation is very annoying, because of the ping-pong battles and their amazing generals, and that it is incredibly boring. If you want a faction system, apparently (I havn't played it) Crusader Kings is good, and if you want a more administrative/warmongering game then EU3, Vicky or Hearts of Iron is good. Its a shame because I love the Roman period.

I like eu rome just as much as I like the other paradox titles
rome has character management, but lacks a bit the overall complexity of eu3,the rest is the same(ping-pong battles included...paradox markers, you will find them in every game)
It has *IMO* the best music.
That is about it.

Yah, its fun for awhile with the different factions and civil wars and such but it doesn't feel all the way done.

The Demo is so hard its possible to keep replaying it but its nearly impossible to win.
The actual game is frustrating because there are so few regions and the regions there are prob too big. Plus I dont like the limited amount of factions. A lot of regions are factionless. In Gaul, Germany etc the regions are controlled by barbarians. There are a few actual factions out there but not enough. I wish there was actually 100 or more factions. Enough to fill up Gaul, Spain and Germany with individual unique barbarian factions. Including future tribes (that rampage rome) like the Vandals and Suebi and Goths.
I really enjoy Rome. For me the time period is far more interesting than EU's (similar to finding RomeTW far more appealing than EmpireTW) and that is where much of the enjoyment stems.
Your most important resource is manpower. No question. A far more war-centric game, you focus on character events and appeasing the senate rather than balancing inflation and colonisation in the Americas.
The only thing that is bad about Rome currently is declaring war on a small country can cause you to get into a huge multi nation war as nations are quick to ally with many others. Although this does cause you to think more carefully about who you fight, and who you piss off. The Seleucid Empire landing troops on your shores is a real day ruiner.
For the price, if you like the time period, it's well worth it.
Does anyone still play this game?
