I managed to keep my faction leader alive (Flavius Julius) from 270BC to whenever the plauge in Italy historical event occurs, almost 200 years! He died of plauge. anyone else got anything similar?

You had a general 200 years old?? For some reason i doubt that.
My oldest general was only like 70 odd years old but i have seen screen shots of others being 100 years old.
Well as far as i remember, it was a bug once they reached like 135 they reverted back to age 1 or so. So having 1 above that is impossible, unless it was changed in 1.3 or 1.5. -Leon
P.S.
My oldest was Scipio who died at 105 i think.
it's true, he was that old. he did get to 135 and become a toddler again though. weird, but his traits all stayed the same. I'll try to find a screenshot of it, but it happened months ago and i don't know if I have any.
I think Hannibal is 90 years old when you play as the Julii. He is the enemies general though.
well, can't find a screenshot, but i know i had one. probably deleted it.
But I really did have a general that old; I saved the game every turn and when he died i loaded it again. Eventually, when i loaded games he would stay alive and that's how I got him to live so long. Would have been longer if it weren't for that plague.
Got the same with mine, but 3 generals,100,81 and 78. I reload, but with their wives dead,no more children,so I let them die after removing useful ancilliaries. They are good for high influence at that age,in rebellious regions, but risky unless a good general is around to take over that city. It seems strange going on campign with a 100yo faction leader...hmmm wheelchair(beginings of the Chariot hiihii) or Warhorse???
oldest general without cheating....i think was 73

104-8 (forget), no cheating, and I might have the savegame. He had some very useful builder traits which made this rule of Athens and its provinces very useful. He also lent a hand with Thessalonica. I think he was the last pagan in the ERE so he was fairly unique. I know this is RTW , but that is the only striking age I attained between the two games.
ah, 80 something. Didn't help that he lived that long though, he had like 2 stars and was a mediocure governor

are you sure your generals werent vampires? the oldest i remember was 88. i left him in one city for years as soon as i took him out he died...
Mine was a Briton named Cynfawr. He lived, I believe, till about 93 or 94 and died of natural causes up in Tara. He fought one battle, I believe it was the battle for control of the city. I was lazy and didn't use him anymore after that- he was the faction leader for a while as well and controlled no more than 6 divisions at any time. I wasn't very good at Rome back then though...so I kinda let him through the cracks.
to make your generals live a long time, leave them in a city that is semi-large and close to your capitol, and leave them there for the rest of their lives. Its pointless to use a general in war if you are trying to have him live for a long time. That is why, when i want to have a very old family member, I generally use someone who has a very low command rating but a decent management rating, and no traits or ancillaries that increase squalor. When you put your old general that you want to live a long time in a city, make sure the city is not too big, and the population is not growing too fast, or you will run into problems with squalor later.

yeah i once had my carthagian faction leader live until 106 i think or something like that, i thought the game had forgotten about him haha![]()
actually i guess you could class it as a bit of a cheat tho, cos heres the thing, he died after the first bloody turn at 50something i think grrrrand so i reloaded that turn and the guy just took his second chance at life haha he went on for yrs and yrs after that-and i never once again reloaded (only did that cos bloody first turn faction leader death? come on!!!)

i never get generals that old![]()
mine always die in their 60's, sometimes late 70's. and I think on a very few rare occasions I've had some in the 80's![]()
I think my oldest was somewhere around 86-89. They never got older than that![]()

I once had a Saxon Governor who lived until 125 and I didn't cheat by loading an old save every time he died like some do!
I didn't even notice him though until I checked the family tree to notice him on his own 2 generations above everyone else. Like Slimshoom advised for old aged Generals, he was a Governor of a province neighbouring the Capitol and the population wasn't amazingly big.
