It depends on the length of the game, like S2 only goes 50 years or something so a turn a year wouldn't be enough, but four turns a year would be fine. But with games like M2 or Rome that span hundreds of years we dont need over 800 turns, so ~1 turn a year is fine. The only thing I wouldn't want is 24 turns a year for a main game, since that means the focus will be too limited. However using that for expansions like they've done is fine.

That poll does not make much sense. The turns per year are related to the era.
Nobody would play Medieval (four centuries) using 24 turns per year.

Time continued could be really awesome and challenging. I image the armies roaming around like the cohort of the first Caesar game on the province map. Man that game was awesome! I would love a remake of the original.

Depends on the game.. but on average I would say ~200-300 turns to a completeted campaign should be aimed at, with the option of continue playing.
