If you are using Windows 7, open up an explorer window (By clicking "Computer" in the start menu) and navigate to this directory:

    Code:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Medieval II Total War\mods
That should take you to the correct folder.

Did you install Third Age into the "Medieval II Total War/mods" folder?

(If you would like me to personally show you how to install the mod, download Teamviewer and I can manually install the mod for you.)

Try re-installing Medieval II & Kingdoms, then attempt the installation of the Third Age mod. I have no idea what files you may have corrupted during this botched installation process, so re-installing would be your best bet to fix this issue.

Try a re-installation of Medieval II & Kingdoms, then attempt to install TA. A clean install is always beneficial when trying to sort out a technical error.

You wouldn't believe how many problems have been solved with a simple re-install.

Unless you find a better solution, I suggest following my recommendation.
