Just a thought I had. Fair enough, there are huge differences between the PC and the Xbox-360, however essentially they are both made by Microsoft (that is, if you use Windows as your OS), and both Windows Live and Xbox Live use the same system..
Could, in theory a Total War game be ported to the XBox?
'But how would you control a battlemap/campaign map with only a joystick gaming pad'
Well, we know this wouldn't work. Stormrise tried with this, and failed. WIP select is a disaster in terms of how it was implemented in Stormrise.
However, what if the XBox-version had keyboard and mouse implemententation in the game code? Only the original Xbox had forbade game developers from including mouse and keyboard implementation in their games so that it was differentiated from the PC. However the 360 has no strict mandate for this, so in theory a game could make use of USB Keyboard and Mice, (and the Xbox has enough USB ports to be able to support this).
It would mean that people wouldn't have to worry about their 'gaming rig' as the game would be suited to be able to play perfectly on the Xbox. Fair enough, it may not look as classy as it's PC counterpart, (what game does)? Think Crysis PC vs Crysis Xbox, the difference is obvious - however, I think personally the online-multiplayer would be better. XBL offers a clear better multi-player system than any PC, including Steam - and would make online battles interesting.
I'm not sure how mods would work, but let's face it, what new Total War game has ever been 'moddable' as deemed by the people that created it. Every mod has come not from the devs wanting us to mod, but from people cracking the system...
Hmm, just thoughts anyway! Could sound ridiculous, but - as CA are bent on making money apparently, offering the TW series at another console (even if the game was eclusive for that consoles and only featured real time battles) - it would make them more money![]()
