    Alright. I've figured out how to make units generals using the PFM. Herein lies the problem.

    For the purposes of my mod, I've defined a custom general called "Naoe Kanetsugu." (Ignoring the placeholder art and whatnots). He's a perfectly good unit - even with his signature LOVE helmet. Yadda yadda. That's not the problem. The issue is: The general function that I found do not work if you gift him through an event, dilemma, or spawn him using create_force, so I settled for the next best thing instead: making him recruit-able.

    Ok.

    I recruit him.

    Some random doofus spawns instead. He IS a general. He DOES appear in the family tree immediately. But for some [censored] reason ...



    Except he's clearly taken Naoe's spot. With a random portrait and a random name generated.



    Pfft. Any ideas?

    Just an idea, have you tried editing an existing starting general in startpos?
    Making a specific general recruitable from buildings seem to lose its original purpose.

    I think what you are looking for is kind of unlikely, since even the historical sons get random portraits and models. Best bet is to replace a general/daimyo that already exists with set portraits.
    Rather I do not finish than to finish something imperfect.

    Well, conceptually, I was going to implement the Kagemushas. Then I decided to test generals first. The real problem I have is that if I spawn the general through an event, for instance, he does not get the general skill tree (disappointing, I know) and does not count as an independent character. The event would have made it so that Kanetsugu is only recruitable once thanks to a counter function, and then the unit recruitment would be locked permanently throughout the game.

    I've been in touch with other modders, and there is a way to actually generate them through startpos, but that has a few bugs that is hard to iron out.

    No one has a better idea?
