Libertus
Domus Taedii
Lucius Taedius Bubulcus is a Plebeian of the Equestrian class, not very influential, but quite wealthy. At 36, he has spent more time studying than building up a network in the Citys political sphere, but comming from a merchant family, he knows a lot of travelling merchants. He uses his contacts to bring him books and learned works from far off, but he gains information on a variety of fields as well.
He is married to the daughter of a Patrician of low influence, and has three children, two daughters and a son. His younger brother, Marcus, tends to the family business: Mostly cattle, but other agricultural produce as well, including wine from Campania flowing to, and through, Roma.
The Domus is situated on the northwestern slopes of the Aventine, overlooking Forum Boarium and the river. It is large for its district, and houses several slaves to tend for the family. The most important for Taedius is his secretary, Varo.
Of character, L. Taedius Bubulcus is pragmatic in his daily life, his education and leaning toward natural philosophy making him impervious to hasty superstition. But at the same time, he is very religious, filled with awe and respect for the official rituals of state. He welcomes new ideas, especially if they are of a practical nature, but also a traditionalist, holding the customs of the fathers in great reverence.
